    No indication of which schools?

13 "outbreaks" in schools, not just single cases.

And before anyone does a crappy incorrect calculation saying it's only blah blah percent, dont bother.

Is an outbreak is classed as 2 or more cases within a school?

If that’s correct then this has been noted on those lists on Twitter and Facebook.

Why are you hell bent on getting the schools closed again?

    You're not even a teacher.

    1. Who said anything about closing schools sonny?

    2. Says who?

My understanding is that an outbreak is 2 or more cases in a locale that can be traced to that locale ie over 100 schools affected and in 13 of those there is evidence of spread among the school population as opposed to individual cases being picked up in schools.

ETA open to correction if I am wrong

    What do you want so?

You are here everyday giving out the schools are open.

    Please tell me.

    What do you want so?

I want a new tour bus full of old guitars
My own star on Hollywood Boulevard
    Somewhere between Cher
And James Dean is fine for me

    Now, take a hike JJ

No reason a blended learning approach couldn't have been, or even now made retroactively viable. What's currently happening in post primary is beyond idiotic with a global pandemic happening.

Which hopefully will mean that ICU admissions and deaths will remain at about 1% of infections.

McConkey reckoned if it’s not slowed in Dublin in the next week we could see 5000 infections per day in Dublin by Halloween. At 1% ICU admissions that is a very, very grim picture.

Well a teacher friend of mine was telling me this evening about a school near to them that has 4 confirmed cases in it and the delayed confirmation that was meant to be taking place this weekend has now been cancelled again.

On the 2nd of September per the 14 day epidemiology report:

    0-4 3% of cases
    5-14 8.5%
    15-24 24.35%

    As of the latest report
    0-4 4% of cases
    5-14 9%
    15-24 21%

Numbers are increasing across the age groups. School is reflective of what is happening, not driving it

    This is deteriorating every day.

Out of curiosity has any other country gone down the road of blended learning?

Some people here are like the Soviets in 1986.It is obviously large groups in poorly ventilated buildings will increase community transmission. Time to stop this school is safe spin.

It’s not a coincidence, it’s pretty much mathematically guaranteed that when averaging 200 plus cases per day some school somewhere will have two unlinked cases appear in the same week

Is that not a coincidence? Two unlinked cases in the same school coming to light in the same day. There is no mathematical equation that would guarantee that.

    13 is 0.325% of schools.

99.675% don’t have outbreaks. That’s not a crappy incorrect calculation.

In this pandemic nothing is safe.

The issue is what degree of risk is acceptable.

The word outbreak shows there is problems with covid 19 measures. Well it did with meat factories, 3 weeks in as 13 outbreals with 100 schools affected. Imagine if this keeps increasing.

There are those who want to see the worst side of everything. That’s not quite the same as wanting the schools shut. But it’s pretty close.

What’s the source for 100 schools?

And how many of those 100 have an issue today?

Can anyone clarify this, say 13 outbreaks happy in schools. Each outbreak maybe is 40 or 50 cases or whatever it is. They all go home and their families each get it say 40 times 4 so thats 160. Are all those 160 called househokd transmission even though the kid who gave it to them got it in school? Felt similar with travel. Why is it that the original case that caused it isn't being factored in? Feel household is one thing that doesn't affect economy and therefore these rules suit them perfectly so they twist the information. Couldn't trust the government as far as I'd throw them. On a totally different note Martin has an awful attitude to questions. He does not communicate well.

There is actually over 100 I think. Covid 19 schools page on twitter.

    40 cases?

    Or possibly 2.

Some jump to make your point all the more dramatic.

So we are relying on anonymous sources for data for public policy?

OK so 13 outbreaks would he at the very least 26 and that would he estimating each outbreak to be only 2 cases. Chances are some are more than 2? Hardly would consider that dramatic?

there is also an alert page on Facebook with all the hse letters posted. Do you actually think there isn't 100? Chances are it's a lot more actaully.

I’m using the 13 figure as quoted. If that’s wrong my conclusion is wrong. Even you can do basic maths

So if the figure 13 is wrong, what’s the correct figure?
