Exactly. These things were said months ago, when less was known about the virus and how it is transmitted . Professor Luke O'Neill initially said the was no need for masks (think he said this in February and there is a video of it). He has since changed his mind based on the research done since.

So your happy for the population who would otherwise have had many more years to live to instead be killed of early because you can't be arsed to wear a mask. Yes, a large proportion of the people who have died have other underlying conditions, but medical science has managed to find ways to keep them alive. Should all of that be thrown away because you have an issue with being told to do something incredibly minor for the social good?

Due to other conditions I would have died a several decades ago if not for some fancy drugs and technology (and the sacrifices of a few dogs along the way). I'm at significantly higher risk from Covid killing me off, but without that there is no reason that the drugs and technology won't keep me alive for another half century quite easily.

Is my life worthy of you sticking a mask over your face when going into a shop?

You seem to have a few misconceptions.
First, Twitter isn't only used by fame influencers.
And he's not our Health Minister anymore though he is a minister...

Use the surgical masks for that, the 2+ layered cloth masks constrict airflow more and block a bit less than the surgical mask, which I’ve posted video before of a guy jogging in 38 C heat with at least 10 of them on his face. We’ve personally worn the cloth masks outdoors at times for light hiking but I wouldn’t be wanting to do anything strenuous in one, I would opt for the surgeons mask.

Honestly, once you get to a certain level of exertion, the surgical masks aren't great either.

Masks required at all times in public places where I am now (inside or outside), including for exercise, and ever day at least 30 degrees. First day under the measures I thought I'd try some sprints instead of a longer run; plan was 1:00 flat out, 2:00 off, 10 times. Couldn't actually run more than about 30 seconds though, as it was impossible to draw deep breaths and get my breath back. Just ended up doing 30 second sprints instead, and have done longer but slower runs since.

Take what Luke O'Neill says with a pinch of salt. His appetite for self promotion knows no end. He was at a conferences abroad when one of the renowned attendees said this strange virus was going to be worse than SARS and MERS, yet Luke headed off afterwards to the US in early March and while he was there, a research lab in his department was closed due to a covid case.

In June, he repeated Boris' analogy that we had this virus against the ropes and were beating it.

If your parents and grandparents are reasonably healthy and independent with no underlying health conditions they'll be fine.
'Anyone' over 60 being at risk is just scaremongering, most people in their 60s are healthy if they look after themselves and most do.
I'll skip the bit about those in their 50s.
