Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Before the season kicked off peeps were moaning that the first two races would be carbon copies. Right now I wish they were right as this is becoming a snooze fest

Albon 37 seconds behind Max after 43 laps.

    Hmmm

  • Registered Users Posts: 487 ✭✭BikeRacer

The 3 leaders inc Verstappen wont be far off lapping Albon at this rate

Iv defended him but how is Albon about a second a lap slower, it looked pretty embaressing for Gasly last year getting lapped by team mate and it might happen again

Agreed. Albons pace is very disapointing

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

The racing point pair kept it clean but still squeaky bum time for the team. Need to bring the cars home and get some points

He needs to find some improvement quickly, Red Bull are not famed for their patience

Red Bull made a huge mistake not keeping either Ricciardo or Sainz happy, Max was the best thing ever but they didn't appreciate the 2 team mates that kept pace with him.

If Albon doesn't get nearer Max in a few races Kvyat may have another chance in the top team.

God this is boring. Need a safety car.

Just as I say that a nice overtake by Kimi and one from Perez. Nice

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

Didn’t think Perez would catch Daniel that quick

    Come on Stroll. Let’s go!

Fastest lap for Checo, gap to Albon now under 4 seconds

Red Bull can be ruthless but in this already mental year could Kvyat really be expected to be an improvement

    Hulkenberg next year anyone? /s

Hasn’t had a great day but he did lose 5 seconds with a slow pit stop and got stuck in traffic

    What a final lap

Pity about the most of the rest of them.

Good racing around the midfield cars but the top spots were a snooze fest.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

This is classic F1, total snooze fest at the front, frantic in the midfield

Lando's the real deal. McLaren have 2 excellent drivers on their books.

Remove Mercedes from the mix and it would be a far more exciting sport :D

After a horror show in qualifying for Racing Point, I will happily take whatever 2 points positions they ended up with. Great recovery drive from Perez, shame about the contact with Albon. Need to see a replay but looked a racing incident.

Great stuff from Norris as well, sniffed an opportunity and pounced

Renault - sort out your reliability issues. Points dropped again today.

Watched a bit of the race today, used to be a huge F1 fan but skipped the last couple of seasons. Kind of reminded me of watching a new episode of The Simpson, it had the look and feel of something I used enjoy, there were flashes of some good racing on the track but overall wasn't enough to keep me watching to the end of the race.

Glad the camera work ingnored the front three this race. This was the pink panther show .
Stroll drove well , big learning curve for him to deal with the defensive drive from Daniel Ricciardo , in the end Passing Daniel Ricciardo actually cost him and let Lando into mix for one place and the of rob Perez at the end .
The Three cars going for the line just added to the final lap drama .
The Rest of the Day belonged to Perez such a good drive. . Pity he didnt get albon but he pretty much made that race . I am sure they will write essays about it over the next few days. Good result either way for Racing Point both cars across the line , both in the points .

The lame Horse .........shocking . enough said .

Mclaren , Both cars in the points , Great drive again from Lando . Sainz was good enough too , pit stop error cost him. Midfield is going to be a real battle ground . Did Sainz get fastest lap at the end as well .

Renault could be better and probably will , the looked decent up till Ocon had to retire . Actually though Danni Ric would challange albon at one point .

Alpha T , One point . Could have been more poor decision on Gasly . Comfortable drive form Dani K all the same for the final point

Alpha & Hass & Williams , just not in the same races this year .

Lando Norris is Third in the Drivers , And McLaren are second .

    Pos Constructor Points
    1 Mercedes 80
    2 McLaren/Renault 39
    3 Red Bull/Honda 27
    4 Racing Point/Mercedes 22
    5 Ferrari 19
    6 Renault 8
    7 AlphaTauri/Honda 7
    8 Alfa Romeo/Ferrari 2
    9 Williams/Mercedes 0
    10 Haas/Ferrari 0

We haven't been eating the races so far.
Last week was an 8/10 this week is a generous 4/10

Bit of a dull one today, though there were some decent moments in the midfield. Thought the DRS zone on the back straight was a bit of a joke that ruined a lot of battles. Bottas vs Max could have been a lot more entertaining without it. Looking forward to Hungary to see how RB and Mercedes compare there. Not giving hope yet that max can be a title contender, though Mercedes look very strong at the moment. Was a pit Sainz got such a good start today, was hoping Max would have a good run at Hamilton into turn 3. Finally wonder if the FIA will be displeased at perez running around with a damaged car. Though it was a bit dodgy with the pack catching him a a rate of knots into the final corner.

Max was a sitting duck throughout. With that predictability it was quite boring. The only thing worse than a predictable race is a predicable race because of a rule gimmick like super-degradable tyres.

The midfield is where all the interest is - will be following Racing Point and McLaren moreseo than the cars at the front.
