Thanks for your concern but I've no need to see my GP, I'm quite healthy and trust my immune system. I don't need a mask because I am of the opinion they are a breeding ground for bacteria and therefore unhealthy.

The open letter has so far attracted more than 1,000 signatures. Among these are Professor Anthony Staines of Dublin City University (DCU), Professor Gerard Killeen of University College Cork and Dr Tomás Ryan of Trinity College Dublin.

My wife (from Wuhan originally) tells me that in China currently there is no 2 meter social distancing or any distancing for that matter but masks are obligatory in shops etc. They have it well under control there now so seems like a no brainer to me. Open up the country but make masks obligatory in enclosed spaces - trains, buses, shops, pubs etc.
Nb actually no clue how to do it in pubs properly, maybe social distancing there is best or outside drinking only ??

If you brush and floss your teeth you won't have as much bacteria inside your mask. Bonus points for using mouthwash as well

Well your previous post doesn't make sense to me. I wear mask daily, mainly because of work and don't have this kind of problems at all. So either you've just made it up, or you must have some kind of health issues. BTW you might check what immune system does when you infected with Covid-19.

Just a cautionary note about KN95, the UK equivalent of the HSA have issued this:

The UK HSE mandate is for workplace safety and their advice is aimed as such 'KN95 must not be used as PPE at work as their effectiveness cannot be assured' I think some people are confusing face coverings with face masks. Face coverings have no filtration standard recognised in the EU, they will act as a partial barrier but then face masks are not 100% effective either but do offer better protection.

Surgical masks and nuisance masks (the type we buy for DIY floor sanding etc) have EU ratings FFP1. FP1 or just P1 to P2 to P3. P3 (F/FP3) offers the highest protection - for every 20 particles a P3 mask allows one particle through the material. Particles are dust particles, not molecules or individual virus particles.

Be careful what you buy vs what the seller is claiming or not just by advertising a few buzzwords or standards. Some people find wearing face coverings/masks uncomfortable and restrictive.

You don't need to be spoon-fed a link, it's easily available to you. Have a look at the signatories, there's far from 1000 scientists listed.

It certainly includes academics from many fields (quite a few unrelated fields at that) but the vast majority is ordinary Joe Soaps like ourselves.

Well my friend, this is my last answer to your posts, because got yellow card for not being civil in my last reply to your posts. At least I'm not calling people liars.. That letter was not backed up by 1000 scientists, that was clarified, but still there are plenty of big names there. Believe they are well educated in compare to some other individuals. So where's the link then ? Surely it can't be that difficult to provide it ? Then we can work out how many scientists, medics and other academics signed it. Simple - provide evidence for what your saying, not invitations to a cyber treasure hunt.

There's a an ordinary Joe soap in there that I actually know, an ex TCD experimental physicist as it happens. He doesn't list his academic achievements, kind of typical of him.

It doesn't prove anything of course but from my brief reading the majority are at least have third level quals. in something or other. So if the original claim had have been 1000 scientists and academics then that is generally correct, seeing as the total also runs up to over 1300.

Ah well, good luck with that. They proved themselves. Not saying the other two options are better. Don't think there was any recorded deaths or serious health problems connected to wearing masks from Czech republic and I'm watching news from my home country closely.
