Hi, I applied online for jsb yesterday and I see today that it has been approved. Question, it doesn’t say the rate, will I get it for my 20 yr old dependant child, I was on illness benefit for two weeks recently and it wasn’t paid for dependant then, I was told it wasn’t paid for the first six months of Illness Benefit, just wondering if it’s the same for jsb. Tia
As far as I'm aware Jobseekers Benefit is a personal payment, not means tested and based on contributions, there are no other allowances attached to it , so your dependent 20 year old would be irrelevant, are you sure it was JSB and Not JSA you applied for, you've also posted in an old survey , perhaps post as a new question, others will see it better.
That was a quick application for JSB, I had to wait 5 weeks and received payments back to the original application.
I had to renew my JSB recently by filling out a dual JSB/JSA application, about three weeks ago but haven’t heard if it’s been approved. I’d doubt that I will get JSA due to my wife working but the JSB should be approved as my employment status of three day working remains the same. My employer filled out the forms explaining that I am working three days as a result of a down turn in business!
Made redundant on 16th May, applied online 17th, collected first payment on 22nd. Very smooth process
That's because country at full employment they don't know what to do with themselves in that section I hear.
Hi Jambur was it all online? Got the dreaded news myself today…What does it amount to per week now these days with new changes recently do you know?
It was totally online for me. I applied on Mywelfare.ie the first morning after I was made redundant. I had a confirming email within an hour. I get 450 a week, have to collect in the Post Office. That's based on having 5+ years of contributions, with the 450 being the max amount. I had a colleague who said it was worth more for him to apply under the old system as he had dependants.
Your employer should talk you through all this before you finish up.
The only advice I'd give is to use your time now to get a PSC card, and setup a mywelfare account.
Good luck with the job hunt!
Its not possible to get paid into bank account any more?
No, Jobseekers payment were temporarily paid into bank accounts during the Pandemic.
Only in very rare circumstances, long distances to a post office etc, will DSP agree to pay JSA/JSB into bank accounts.
With waiting times being so long for processing ja/JB, people should apply for supplementary welfare while waiting for main claim to be approved
