Detailing chat

Hi I've been thinking it'd be nice to have a thread where simple questions that people don't want to create a thread for, could go. Or any chat related to detailing.

I've a question. If I've put a wax on, then a sealant. Then after a few weeks or w/e I'm thinking the shine isn't what it was. (After washing obviously) Can I apply wax on top of whatever sealant and wax is left from the first time, or do I have to remove the remaining sealant + wax first?

My Autopia delivery arrived this morning with the postman. It was incomplete but that's due to supply issues with the pandemic, I'll give them a chance to rectify it given the circumstances

I’m up to 4 weeks now waiting for part of a delivery from euro car parts. They delivered everything apart from 1 item so I presume it is a stock issue but it’s slow going!

The missing bit is less than €5 so I’m not losing much sleep over it!

Waited over a month for some detailing parts. After two weeks of not being able to get through. I done a charge back via PayPal finally got my money back last week. Will never deal with them again. If you go over to Twitter it’s them saying to send a DM then never actually replying.

Do clay bars go off?

Found two unused Bilt Hammer clay bars today. I'd say it was over 10 years when I got them. I thought they used to be easier to pull apart and mould, they seemed a bit dried out but then again it was years ago since I clayed a car.

Should I dump then or soak them over night or any other suggestion?

Hadn't washed the car since before Xmas and then used an automatic wash at the petrol station :eek: today and well the paint feels crap so was thinking claying, polishing and waxing as I have the next four days off.

I got Chemical Guys microfibre wash and used it last night for the first time. Great product altogether for the cloths. Also used it to wash a polishing pad in the sink and it's the best thing I've used to remove the polish. Well worth looking into.

I tried that ( or a previous version ) years ago and really found it no better than Non bio liquid.

It must have been a previous version because this stuff is great.

I also like the idea of not having to worry about cloth deterioration with this stuff. Never used any normal liquid with softener in it anyway for cloths but it's just good to know that I have something specifically for the job.

Thanks for this, arrived this morning. Havnt used anything yet. Wheel mitt seems pretty good, nice wrist cuff. Got two of those.

Got 12 of the general microfiber towels. They seem very nice.

Got a few of the drying towels and they sent a load of the mesh bags to keep everything in.

I get good reaction from autoglym polar blast tbh. I think the trick is to leave the foam sit on the car slightly longer than what they recommend. I find it quite effective when I do that. Megs is similar but overpriced imo.

Autobrite Magifoam - but then again that’s what you’re currently using I believe you said on the other thread. Personally, I think it’s a bit better than BH Autofoam, which I still have and use.
I’ve used ValetPro pH neutral before too but I wasn’t overly impressed with its cleaning ability.

Reflect Autocare Mega Foam?
Their shop is open in D15/D11 and they also do next day delivery.

John from Forensic Detailing Channel did rate it as the best clinging foam but it came second overall to Bilt Hamber. But that's just one person's opinion.
