Freshly roasted coffee beans online

My usual store to buy freshly roasted beans is 20 mins from my house and these days I go that direction less and less so I'm looking for an online supplier that will ship me beans roasted at least in the last 2 weeks. I go through a kg a month so a subscription would suit. Where do you recommend

Just all a bit meh. Roast date stated middle of April so relatively fresh. Got the Brazilian and the Burundi. Neither blew me away.

Used both French press and espresso.

Got two bags from Upside for a change, got the Brazil Mantiquiera Mountains, one a darker "classic espresso" roast and the other a more standard medium roast.

The dark one is gorgeous with milk, definitely more on the chocolate side of things, wasn't a massive fan of it as straight espresso but I normally wouldn't drink dark roasts straight anyways.

Similar with me. Expected it to be close to date of my order which in a lot places it would be.

They may be only roasting one day a week, remember their biggest customers are all closed, cafés

Yes they are - when you select the quantity and grind the old price displays. To be fair that's standard pricing for single origin. Plus the 1kg bags are much better value - 1kg of single origin for €29 is very good value especially with free shipping on top.

My last order from Adam's and Russell works out at €5.26 per 250g including shipping.

IMO the single plantation range is more comparable to true single origin with a lot of other roasters - so 3 for £21 is a fairer comparison. A&S single origin is not really what most would mean by single origin - i.e. the same estate.

I do take your point it's still cheaper though, but I haven't tried it myself. €10-12 per 250g bag would be common for single origin (i.e. single plantation) however.

What did you go for? I just reordered some yesterday - went for the El Salvador and the Innovation Series Hydro as a treat :-) Sounds interesting!

Just the Brazilian (Fazenda Sertão) based on the descriptions on here as well as the East Timorese which sounds up my street based on the WCC description.

Free delivery is not to be sniffed at neither.

I usually spread my business around a few places: Bell Lane, Badger & Dodo and Bailies mainly, but the WCC offer at 20% and free shipping is too good to pass up atm imo! Will be back to the others soon no doubt but WCC will also be in the rotation for sure :-)

That's a bean to cup machine, so you'll just need to buy whole beans. All the best with it!

Seems the local coffee shop (which I tend to avoid as I hate the atmosphere and their tiny cups) has Imbibe Colombia, Kenya and Rwanda as well as 3fe Passeio, Decaf and one in a pink bag I can't make out from the photo.

I know the 3fe well. What's Imbibe like?

WCC - The difference in value between the 227g and the 1KG is huge. I'd normally go for 2 or 3 smaller bags but you really have to go with the 1KG in this instance.

And this Brazillian coffee had better be good

I have been getting beans from Karl in Coffeeangel for over ten years (that is a while now that I think back). Bailies, based in Belfast, roast his coffee.

1Kg bags are around the €30 mark and he is currently hand delivering in Dublin and delivering nationwide for free.

For those who don't know Karl, he is a fascinating character (and coffee brain) who doesn't scrimp on quality. He generally only stocks 3/4 different coffees and for long periods, always one or two naturals and a washed. I've never once been let down by him, never had an overroasted batch (and we buy 2-3kg a month for my office).

Was looking at WCC earlier after the recommendations here but has their 20% discount ended? Never tried them, how would they compare to Badger & Dodo or Bailies for instance?

The prices include the discount - hen you select the bag size and grind etc. both prices (original and discount) will display.

They are single origins for the most part I think - I know Badger & Dodo do both single origins and blends so not sure what you are looking for. Both are excellent roasters and I have ordered from both - it can be nice for a change to try something new - I find that most of the fun to be honest especially in these days of reliving the same day over and over again!
