Relaxation of restrictions

Red Alert

Simon Harris curiously made a comment that there was a limit to how long people could put up with extreme level of restrictions as we currently have. Already we’re seeing in Italy that people are starting to get restless. So two big questions:

1) on Easter Sunday, do you think there will be further restrictions, no change with just an extension or some relaxation?

2) what will be the first thing rolled back?

My own guess would be: extension for at least 1 week. Then to allow some businesses like DIY shops to reopen, perhaps allow gatherings of 2/3 people, maybe a token increase on 2km.

Yeah I figured a long time ago that very little rocket science went on in pubs.
Mostly the patrons seem to be either politicians or diplomats that can solve all the world's problems if only given the chance.

No, but they usually have a fair amount of drunk people at some stage, a fair proportion of whom either act the complete bollo* or the complete eejit.

A "mass gathering" is generally an organised event, not particular locations.

I expect beaches, national parks etc. to be opened in the not so distant future, but family groups only and social distancing in place.

Why are you so shocked by this? This was always going to be the case. Actually mass gatherings being allowed in August is wildly optimistic in my opinion. More likely to be Nov/Dec at the earliest and that is without a lethal second wave of the virus happening this autumn/winter.

Thats not really something that wasn't expected. It's in line with other European countries. Banned until end of August in Germany and Belgium

I assume it would be along the lines of the first round of restrictions that were announced in mid March. No more than 100 people indoors or 500 outdoors together at a time.

Irish people need to hold fast as the measures imposed so far are saving many lives.These tough restrictions need to continue for some time longer for all our good.Otherwise if the restrictions are relaxed too early there WILL be a second wave of the virus and we will be back to square one.

5000 seems strange.

5000 in croker could space themselves 10 metres apart.

5000 in a marquee festival would be wedged in.
