Relaxation of restrictions

Simon Harris curiously made a comment that there was a limit to how long people could put up with extreme level of restrictions as we currently have. Already we’re seeing in Italy that people are starting to get restless. So two big questions:

1) on Easter Sunday, do you think there will be further restrictions, no change with just an extension or some relaxation?

2) what will be the first thing rolled back?

My own guess would be: extension for at least 1 week. Then to allow some businesses like DIY shops to reopen, perhaps allow gatherings of 2/3 people, maybe a token increase on 2km.

The Director of Critical Care Medicine at the Mater Hospital in Dublin has said the intensive care unit there is full and some patients, who have been ventilated, have been moved to the high dependency unit for care.

Dr Colman O'Loughlin said that most of the patients in the 18 ICU beds are Covid-19 patients.

End of May at the earliest, possibly into early June I reckon. Gradual re-opening of small businesses and shops through mid-late June and into July.

Not a hope that it will be extended that long in my opinion. Two more weeks tops of current restrictions and then months of other lesser restrictions...

A recession was overdue which would have cleared out a lot of the deadwood covid or no covid.

It's a pity now that some businesses are going to be under serious pressure that were fully above water and viable before, especially relating to tourism and travel. They would have had no issues trading under normal circumstances, unlike Debenhams.

The thing is people that want to, can still sit inside all day with restrictions eased.

Let those who want to go to work, I wouldnt mind paying extra tax to support those sort of people, if it helped out other businesses

When in your opinion should be as soon as possible? Next week, next month? What, if any, precautions should be taken to ensure social distancing?

Actually a joke how they want to extend these for weeks, economy is going to suffer even more putting more people under pressure, amount of suicides this will cause will be mad and for what to save a few old people who were on the way out anyways and have nothing to offer the economy, if people want to stay in let them but let people get on with their lives and protect the long term future of this country

Allow them reopen on a strict basis with appropriate rules in place. This “lock it all down” mania is nuts and has run its course. All it’s good for is Garda overtime and supermarkets profits.
If vulnerable want to self isolate let them and assist them in their personal decision

Yes, those banks who aren't having the loans paid back by the businesses that have closed and are going to be firing money at people in the 1st of July. Never mind that the years of experience of a small business owner will be lost

Next week.

I’ve said it before, we are incredibly well poised to fight this using just social distancing.

Our most populated region, Dublin, is only the 34th most populated region in Europe.

In Italy 15m are over 65.
In Ireland the figure is 600k.
Much more manageable.

Reopen construction immediately using social distancing measures.

And plan a swift return for as many as possible.

There is no plan, Holohan and Leo have admitted this.
