So with Ruth Coppinger rejected by the people for the second time in a matter of weeks, what will become of the socialist presence in Dublin 15? Will socialism vanish into the ether of the past? Remembering that Matt Waine was also rejected by the people so no council representation either?

I often wonder if there was a wake up call by the people in Dublin 15 that socialism has no place in Irish politics when the country is governed by a 2 party system?? and thats not going to change in the near future

Perhaps Ruth will reflect on her communication style and tactics. Imagine going into work with someone with a puss on them like hers everyday and listening to them moaning - you wouldn't want to be anywhere near them.

Her posters for the GE were hilariously bad. The week before the election I could see she'd become desperate because she'd put up ones about keeping a female representative in the area.

Apart from gender balance, there is a much better political balance in the constituency with the current lineup.

How, do you arrive at the conclusion that there is a much better political balance, within the constituency, now?

Yes, very hard to listen to Ruth. Always negative , confrontational. Sincere in her beliefs no doubt but certainly does not come across well in the media. Maybe she's ok on the doorstep and constituency representation.......

Probably not since she was rejected in the GE when there was supposed to be a surge to the left. If anything it is a double rejection.

However, I think Trotskyism doesn't represent the area well. I can remember when she advocated nationalism of multinational companies based in Ireland for example.

I came across some of her campaign crew outside Tesco Roselawn and I found them quite pushy especially if you mentioned you were undecided on how to vote. I do think that it was a massive mistake to use womens rights as a basis for a campaign as it would alienate any male voters. Hopefully, she will mellow out in her retirement. Sure she must have a decent pension out of her Dail terms now anyway

SF are pro multinationals and against them all at the one time.

I'd be a left leaning voter by nature but I wouldn't vote for her or her party. The two points raised above are things I've seen first hand myself. Firstly a band of "followers" that seem to canvas in a quasi confrontational way. That's poor: if you want my vote then persuade me rather than berate me. They need to realise it's my vote to cast and theirs to loose.

Then there's the policy around women's rights and their circumstances. Don't get me wrong, I fully agree in absolute and scrupulously fair equality for all. But when women look at this sort of campaign - as a good number of my workplace peers have - and are put off by it for the same reasons given above then you have to feel that this particular campaign has missed its point, and failed to appeal to the very space it's trying to win.

Just to be clear, I am in no way a supporter of RC. However I’m very interested to note that your own preferred Candidate, was equally as polarising and focused mostly on one topic.
With regard to the pension, Members of the Oireachtas and former Members are not eligible to collect their pension until they’re 65. Not like us poor saps at 67/68. The pension whilst more than generous in is now based on a percentage of the time the Individual served as a TD or Senator against their actual working life. To work out a TD’s basic pension you divide his or her salary by 40 and then multiply it by the number of years they’ve served in the Dáil. A cap of 20 years service applies.
Up until 1994, TD’s & Senators could claim a full pension upon leaving Leinster House at any age, even if only having server one or a partial term. Thankfully this no longer happens.

Not quite accurate, Doherty was on the wireless in recent days pleading a rather impotent case to be included in the advancing Government formation talks. Sounded like he didn't even believe what he was saying himself.

The most delicious irony is that after fraudulently passing herself off as some sort of firebrand for the provision of social and affordable housing, it was her refusal to back/ engage with the housing protest at Mulhuddart that made her base realise that she truly couldn't give a ****e about them if someone of a darker hue was competing with them for the same freebies. Without a doubt that (plus the SF surge to a lesser extent) finished her. Her fence sitting/ outright contempt hopefully won't be forgotten by next election as she will no doubt run again. And the same goes for Matt Waine and his flag shame.

An absolutely odious pair of people. Good riddance to them and their misandrist thug supporters.

Funnily enough Ruth reached out to the protesters in mulhuddart and was turned away because of her parties policies on migrants. That protest was a racist pile of crap anyway...

Reached out my hole. Listen, I know full well some of those at the protest aren't exactly the greatest and good of D15.

Regardless of that, the majority of them are living either in overcrowded parental households or, even worse, in black hole state schemes like HAP or long term social rental of private homes. They need somewhere to live and they need it now.

To suggest anyone who arrived in the country after these people joined the list should be handed brand new housing, in Dublin of all places, is obscene. It isn't just offensive to those on the list, it is offensive to people who don't qualify for the list, locals who have been forced out to Meath, Cavan, Westmeath to try and either gather a deposit, or maybe even never to return.

Ruth Coppinger lost her seat because she thinks foreigners are more important than Irish people, simple as.

Want proof?

Google Ruth's activism regarding Paddy Jackson. Ran him out of the country after his acquittal.

Then tell me why she didn't organise a similar protest against another professional sportsman, one Ismail Akinade. Who, unlike Jackson, was actually convicted.

There are three reasons she didn't.

One reason she didn't was because he wasn't from a wealthy, privileged background.

I'll let you work out the other two reasons.

While you're a it, you might ask her why she was vocal about shutting down building sites last week but hasn't raised a peep about hundreds of mostly migrant, gay or trans escorts (or all three) plying their trade online in Dublin tonight. Ruth only wants to shut down prostitution if there's a nasty rich man getting a cut off the profits, same as the building game.

She's a hypocrite, a parasite, a thug.
