Relaxation of restrictions

Red Alert

Simon Harris curiously made a comment that there was a limit to how long people could put up with extreme level of restrictions as we currently have. Already we’re seeing in Italy that people are starting to get restless. So two big questions:

1) on Easter Sunday, do you think there will be further restrictions, no change with just an extension or some relaxation?

2) what will be the first thing rolled back?

My own guess would be: extension for at least 1 week. Then to allow some businesses like DIY shops to reopen, perhaps allow gatherings of 2/3 people, maybe a token increase on 2km.

Wonder how many will go hysteric after its announced and they will be kicking the usual doomsday tune, oh no i cant its to dangerous for me sort of BS.

As by the looks quite portion here seem dug in for it to last 3-6 months at very least.

Yeah, all we have to do is indefinitely cocoon
- everyone over 70
- the 400k people with asthma
- the 225k people with diabetes
- everyone who has cancer or is recently recovered
- everyone who has recently had a transplant
- everyone who is pregnant

... that’s workable. No need to worry about how these people will go to work, get to medical appointments, do their shopping, or socialist. Sacrifice the lot of them because we can’t do a four week quarantine.

Those people are already isolating

No one said we can’t do this for 4 weeks, any longer though and we need to consider the economy.

By April 12 the curve will be flattened sufficiently to reopen

Who has said they want it for three to six months and are happy not to be working?

Acceptance of a situation because of no alternative is not the same as being happy about it.

Who has said it's dangerous for themselves? It's concern for other people mostly.

But 18 more months of current restriction wont make it go away either. Just have to mitigate the risk with some control (tests, tracing) and ease out the restrictions

Do you understand that peak means peak of the curve? That’s when the curve is at its highest point. Not when it has flattened.

That's not what it means either. Flattening the curve is about what height the peak reaches.
