They stated that the survey lists three blockages so I purposefully pointed out that it needs a new duct and she said they can fix it. Has anyone had kn out for work that would require digging up a section of paving

Back story: In new estate, my street was the only one not connected for broadband, eircode was however showing as available for fibre. Placed order, open eir out to install no dp in place. This happened 3 times, eventually got escalated up and given a target completion date of Feb 28th. Work was done last week, KN engineer came to our door and all the neighbours to let us know it was completed. Been trying provider since, all they are saying is nothing has been updated on their end to show any improvement on target completion date..

I'm in a semi d and the house connected to mine went with same provider as myself and got connected. KN engineer says I'm definitely on the same dp as my neighbour and is at a loss why my order wont go through. Don't understand the complexities of this myself but I am at a bit of a loss.

Fibre was rolled out to our earlier last year but unfortunately didn't come as far as my house, about 450m short, so we are now showing amber on the map and down as being covered by the NBP. My question basically is there any other options available to us? If it was possible to roll out more cable, another 700 metres or so would cover about another 7-10 houses that would bite any providers hand off for a decent connection. We are maxing out at 4Mbit ADSL lines right now that are completely unreliably. Can we approach OpenEir / KN / anyone about extending the fibre to us? Could we offer to pay for the additional work & materials ourselves? We are facing down the barrel of probably another few years without a decent connection otherwise and it feels like the ADSL connections are deteriorating weekly at this point. I understand there is more to it than just rolling out more fibre cabling but we are desperate! For reference, last hour with fibre connection is at V93 X5K2 and we would be located all around V93 E2N2

jrochie wrote: » LTE not an option either for most of us because of area. 5g with Imagine has bee rolled out in the area but also not looking like it will be an option, one house possible with a 20ft pole may be able to pick up. Microwave might possibly be an option, although irony with where its been rolled out in the area is the last two houses connected are holiday homes and don't really know who is there anymore! Rural Ireland isn't what it used to be Out of curiosity, was it ever released how the commercial viability of area's were decided? I'm sure there is technical aspects I'm overlooking when I give out about them stopping so close to my house!

cnocbui wrote: » If you are on WiFi, you could be being limited by the router bandwidth as in you might be connected via a 2.4Ghz frequency AP. If you can, select a 5Ghz frequency access point and try again. Even with hardwired, you need to check that the ethernet card and cable are fast enough.
Robxxx7 wrote: » I live near you and thought you're particular area was covered .. obviously not . I know mobile operators are not much of an option where you are and Imagine are the same (due to the topology of the area) -- have you tried Ivertec BB ? They might be an option as their Mast site is in a different location than that of Imagine i believe
jrochie wrote: » Might try Ivertec alright, not sure where their mast but worth a look. Really looked like we would be covered when they started rolling out but unfortunately they gave up the ghost on us, so close you could nearly touch! Imagine would be much better served if they did more of a check on locations before they started advertising, lots of signs up around the area but they are all in blackspots where you can't actually pick up their service!
stuchyg wrote: » So I logged in to the router settings and all devices are on 2.4ghz, I somehow managed to get my phone onto 5ghz and got 140mb download speed. Can I simply knock off the 2.4 GHz option on the router and then everything will be forced to run through 5ghz. Apologies if this is a stupid question but I haven't had much cause to mess around with router settings in the past
Robxxx7 wrote: » I think the Ivertec mast is over towards Glenbeigh direction... but give them a shout and I’ll sure they will let you know either way ... Imagine have gone over board on the advertising in the area even in my area where we have had FTTH for nearly 2 years.. Hopefully Ivertec have some good news for you

leck wrote: » Is the map at https://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/ up-to-date? I looked at that and my house is shown in a fibre coverage area (green) but when I use the Checker page using my landline number and eircode I get "Broadband with speed up to 15Mb/s is available at your address". Eir have been busy around here for a number of weeks, popping into and out of manholes.
