Detailing chat

Hi I've been thinking it'd be nice to have a thread where simple questions that people don't want to create a thread for, could go. Or any chat related to detailing.

I've a question. If I've put a wax on, then a sealant. Then after a few weeks or w/e I'm thinking the shine isn't what it was. (After washing obviously) Can I apply wax on top of whatever sealant and wax is left from the first time, or do I have to remove the remaining sealant + wax first?

If it’s a brand new car you should also consider the fallout removal step(s) as it’s not unusual for it to be present.

I washed mine and the wife's last week,one reason was that the kids were getting destroyed climbing in and out.

As an aside,Aldi have a polisher in stock on Sunday.I wonder if it's any good?

I hoovered mine this morning and cleaned glass inside and out and cleaned the lights.not washing it lately.roads covered in sh1te and it p1ssing rain every second minute.
No point being a busy fool.

Haven't washed mine in 2 weeks. Having gotten new tyres the alloys are all paw marks and that's annoying me more than the layer of crud on the car :pac:

How come? I've never used a polisher and was debating whether to pick this up as a cheaper way to try it out. What would be the things to look for/avoid if buying a polisher?

For beginners and DIY head's a Dual Action machine is normally always the recommended safer option it will create less heat as while spinning they have a throw moving around 10-21mm and if you put to much pressure on they generally can be seen to stop spinning or slow significantly.

Using foam pads like 3m, CG hexlogic and lake country will also help with heat dispersion to.

Your Aldi one being a rotary machine will have less room for mistakes, it basically just spins directly from motor in one spot creates a lot more heat and very easy to burn clear coat creating some horrid looking finish to cars paint. I generally also found rotary machines to be a lot heavier to use to creating more pressure on pads = more heat.

In right hands Rotary can make quick work of rough/heavy jobs but in wrong hands can lead to an expensive harsh lesson in polishing. While the DA will take longer but much harder to go all Pete Tong.

On another note,
You wont be long getting fed up with hulking 4kg to machine polish a car.

as above posters said, You will almost certainly end up with buffer trails/holograms all over the paint.
Get a Das6 Pro.

Ok so i wimped out and went to a professional. Got sonax cc63 ceramic coating applied. They did paint correction as well. More than I wanted to spend but sure hopefully will keep the paint in good condition. Just collected the car and it looks great. They had it two days.

I'll post pics tomorrow. Got the interior leather ceramic coated as well..

I have a small annoying stain/mark on the glass/lcd on my motorbike screen.

I have tried washing it off with some mild products including car shampoo and wd40.

Not shifting at all.

Would a detailer be able to look at it and advise/remove it?
