I almost never go to midnight screenings but I'm so glad I did for this. Amazing film. Here are some generic spoiler-free thoughts:

- It is genuinely impressive how this film manages to conclude a 22 film narrative with dozens of characters without the script descending into a mess. It really was a Herculean task. But they have completely succeed.

- It may be three hours but wow, the time flew. I looked at my watch at the 2 hour mark and the remaining time felt like 10 minutes. I'd also struggle to see what they could trim. Every scene feels needed and serves some purpose.

- It is hugely entertaining, funny, exciting and poignant - just like all the best MCU movies.

- It also doesn't treat the audience like fools.

- I'd say a decent knowledge of the MCU is required to get the most out of the movie (which is only fair). Some of the film's best and most memorable moments draws on knowledge of events from past movies throughout the series. But this just confirms that the MCU is basically like a Netflix show except each episode is a multimillion dollar movie.

- One of my criticisms of Infinity War was the end battle which felt too chaotic and unstructured from a narrative viewpoint, which is why I preferred the smaller scale fight on Titan as there was a clear objective. No problem with Endgame, all the action serves a definite discrete purpose.

- There are loads of crowdpleasing moments ranging from just a whisper into someone's ear to the use of cool weapons.

- It would have been very unfortunate for Marvel to drop the ball for their Infinity saga finale, but they actually exceeded my expectations. I can't imagine a better conclusion to such an expansive series. There may be massive CGI battles but it never looses its heart.

- This does not reveal any plot details but describes how the audience reacted. I'll put it in spoiler tags just in case

I've never heard so much sobbing and crying in a screening since the ending of Wall-E

Everyone involved in crafting this movie should be thoroughly proud of themselves. It is an amazing achievement. Audiences couldn't ask for anything more. I remember when The Dark Night came out, people were saying it is a great movie that also happens to be a comic book movie. Exactly the same is true with Endgame.

Didn't actually have a problem with how his sacrifice was handled, predictable as it was, it was well played out following a fitting reunion with Peter Parker.
But even still, a post-script from Stark was still required for the audience.

That said, it was well played out, as was the character work

around his daughter, though less sucessful for me was the meeting with his father, and the less said about Pepper's introduction on the battlefield the better (sometimes it's best to leave the comic books in the store as opposed to the big-screen), but again, it was the only way to get her present for the fateful moment.

Bit ham-fisted in that regard for me, but nothing terminal.

As endings go and considering this is putting a full stop on 11 years of movies. I think they bloody did it. For the most part.

I have a few cringe moments and Captain Marvel seems like she is a magnet for them but overall for what it needed to achieve. It does it.

So I was against them doing time travel simply because it opens the door to solving too many problems but I think they addressed and covered it pretty well. Firstly in that they need the stuff from Hank Pim I forget it's name to move around in time but also because Tony Stark is key to them getting it right.

I'm sad to see the end of Tony but this is a good way for him to bow out. I liked the moment he has with his father.

I like that Cap gets to go back and live the life he always wanted.

Was surprised at black widow dying, I thought we were for sure getting a solo movie.

The threat Thanos carried on Earth given what we seen him do before was huge. I thought he was definitely killing Cap.

My mind is a bit scrambled right now and it's hard to process all I've seen tonight. All I'll leave anyone reading this with who hasn't seen.

Try to stay off Twitter. Try to see when you can.

There's a few words that you could say that would spoil the whole thing so I'm sure there will be a few idiots who try it.

Edit: also no end credits. There's some nice effects where they show some artwork and the avengers actors signatures. It's nicely done and after the hectic nature of what you just watched it's nice to sit and relax.

Just back from 3D IMAX in Cineworld.

Big Screen: Yes, do this!
3D: some but you can live without.
Kids rating: I'd say this is a hard 12A.

This film was great! It was huge! It must have cost a fortune!
It rockets along from start to finish. It can be watched without the previous films but all the previous films are of benefit with nods all round.

The start: Starting with

Hawkeye and showing the impact on his family felt like the right choice. It set the story right for what was to come.

The story: That was only massive!

It was hard to shake the idea that Iron Man and Cap were gonna be key players. I felt the biggest hints to Starks fate was the conversation with Potts after putting the kid to bed.
Notable wins for me included:
- The EPIC HUGE battle before, during and after all the portals opened up
- The elevator scene
- Including so much of the previous cast. Only Hugo Weaving the big absense but infinity war put in some groundwork for expecting that.
- They did the start showing impact of what Thanos did really well.
- Cap catching the Hammer was kinda cool!
- Working out the Soul Stone. That was done well. Poor aul Clint had to deal with some mad amount of loss in this film.
While I'm sure someone will pick out some continuity mistakes at a later point, this felt just fine and like it had considered and included enough.

The ending: Well, that

felt like it wrapped up some stories (notably Iron Man and Captain American) really well. It's not every film, film franchise or tv show that can figure out how to pull something like that off. Then it set up to continue others (obviously Black Panther and Captain Marvel). Though some open questions about the Films and TV shows to come like.. the ones with Vision and Black Widow.

Thor and the Guardians in a next film!?! That could be cool!

Also.. where'd the Hammer that Cap took with him to the past go?

Gah, there was just so much in the film!!!

But Finally.. almost MOST IMPORTANTLY:

- Not sure if I enjoyed the time travel bits. I'll need to rewatch.
- Cap with Mjolinor - audible yelps from our crowd, and maybe me. Brilliant stuff
- The fight scene - when the portals opened. Just wow.
- Close to tears a few time - tony & peter, tony dying etc

- Surprised Nick Fury had such a small part
- Only just realised Cap gave mjolinor back to past Thor
- I've devoted a lot of hours watching and rewatching all of these. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up Cap and Tony

I felt like that was the conclusion of Kevin Feige's love letter to that aspect of the MCU.
What an amazing film, and when watched as 2 halves of a whole movie it still works.

Does anyone else think that they'd be as happy if Marvel split off mutants into their own multiverse ? Its getting harder to give all the characters their own beats. Even in Endgame that last battle could easily have gone another 10 minutes to give some characters a bit of breathing space.

For what its worth I think that Spiderman: FFH is set after homecoming but before Infinity War.

Wow! went to the midnight show in my hometown last night (double bill with Infinity War).

Some absoultely great humour in this

"You OK Lebowski", "I thought you were a build-a-bear"

and some stand out feel good moments

Cap taking up Thor's Hammer:)

Still think Infinity War has the edge over this one but that's not to take anything away from what I just saw on the screen. A fitting end to the entire 10 year MCU "Infinity Saga".

I also really enjoyed the scenes with Thor and his mother on Asgard. The Dark World is not looked on too favorably in the MCU but these few scenes do their best to add a bit of emotional heft to what Thor actually lost in that movie IMHO

One small disappointment for me was (TV series spoilers)

Aside from a small cameo for Mr. Jarvis, very little of the TV series' was represented here. It wouldn't have taken much to perhaps see Daisy quake up an alien, or Lock Jaw running around in the final battle, maybe even give the Iron Fist one last chance to show us that glowing bullet trick he learned.

At the very least, they should have tried to work something of Coulson into the film, even if it was maybe just some archive footage from a S.H.I.E.L.D. file from before the Battle of New York. His character appears to have finally died, even on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. although that might not be the end of him there from any teasers I've seen, it'll be interesting to see where that goes from here.

Went to the midnight showing in IMAX and it ranks among my top 3 favourite cinema experiences. The crowd were awesome, think they broke into applause 5-6 times.
The first two acts of Endgame boast scenes that would be the highlights of any other movie, maybe even those in the MCU. The third act completely overshadows those moments though, that last 30 minutes was the kind of stuff you could only dream of.

Not a spoiler at all, but there is a scene early in the movie that reminded me so much of Jeff Treacy from Thunderbirds. Fans of that show should know it when they see it.

I think I was more giddy for those 3 hours than any other movie experience I've had since I was a kid. Maybe ever. Incredibly fun, absolutely satisfying, and mindblowing that they achieved it on this kind of scale.

My biggest issue with the film was the idiot beside me who wouldn't shut up and tried to guess what characters were going to say before they said it.

Need to see this film again. I'm sure there's loads of stuff I've probably missed. Midnight screenings are great craic.

Thought it was great....I'd agree Infinity War probably edges it.

Hats off to Brolin who I thought was brilliant again. I liked how his performance was from a different angle.

well what can I say about the guy, magnificent way to go out. Loved the look between Tony and Strange as Tony copped what had to be done.
