Welcome to the Waterford GAA discussion thread.

This is consistently the most active thread don the GAA forum. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse of anyone be they other posters, players, managers, referees, pundits etc. Any personal abuse will result in an infraction or a ban.

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives. This should be self explanatory. Apart from being a dickish thing to do, it can lead to legal trouble for Boards.

- Trolling. Again, self explanatory. Trolls will be banned for a long time.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling. Do not call a troll out on thread as this will be considered back seat modding.

- Speculation into the identity of another poster. This is a site-bannable offence.

This list is not exhaustive. Either myself or another mod may add to this as we see fit. Just because a certain behaviour isn't listed, doesn't mean you can't be banned for it. The general Boards.ie rule of Don't be a Dick always applies.

If you feel a post breaks the rules, simply click this underneath the post in question to report the post and a mod will deal with it as they see fit.

So be civil to each other and happy posting.

Given that the thread regularly descending into tit for tat insults between posters, From now on, it won't be a card but a ban straight away for anything like this. The mod warning is clear in the first post but yet people still ignore it.
Also, I'd like to remind people of the ban on discussing players'/managers'/officials' private lives without any substance. You can be getting into libelous territory there. So a zero tolerance policy will be enforced as well.

Good win for Ballygunner but Midleton should be kicking themselves for some bad wides as they could have really turned the screw. Ballygunner very reliant on frees from Mahony and some generous referring in the first half. The introduction of Peter Hogan and JJ Hutchinson made the difference down the stretch as they showed for the ball a lot better and kept the ball in the Midleton half. After the annual procession through the Waterford championship, maybe Ballygunner needed this game to kickstart their Munster campaign.

Good win for Ballygunner, looked in real in trouble at half time but stepped up in second half to win by a couple of points. Big improvement needed when they take on Ballyea next week but todays game should bring them on a lot.

In fairness, only €10 on the gate was very good value but the crowd there today was terrible, only 1,300 turned up which is desperate.

Great win for Clonea too, very impressive to have such a big win over the Limerick champions.

in the Munster Intermediate championship Clonea 1-25 (28)- Garryspillane (Limerick) 1-10 (13). Great win for Clonea, they now face Feakle (Clare) in Fraher Field next weekend in the semi final

Ballygunner 1-18- Midleton 2-13. Great comeback from Ballygunner but a step up is badly needed. They face Ballyea of Clare in the Semi Final next Sunday 4th Nov in Walsh Park

Are there? If it's deemed more suitable for redevelopment it's probably considered the better stadium?

More onboard with this idea than Fraher Field, as much as I like the place. But I'd rather Nowlan Park and Walsh Park works get underway promptly.

Walsh Park is Board’s 2019 Choice

The Munster Express understands that Walsh Park will be the stadium of choice proposed by the County Board of Waterford GAA for use in next summer’s Munster Hurling Championship.

But whether the Deisemen will line out against Clare (week ending May 12th) and All-Ireland champions Limerick (week ending June 2nd) at the Keane’s Road venue is entirely dependant on the time it will take An Bord Pleanála to deal with the two submissions lodged in relation to elements of the proposed redevelopment.

This newspaper also understands that a capacity of between 10,000 and 10,500 will be placed on the ground for both games next summer, with work potentially beginning in mid-June or early July, subject to both the planning and tendering processes.

I think this is a mistake. The Munster Council will use any excuse to rule out either of our venues, and there are currently far more excuses to be found in Walsh Park.

Senior football final takes place on Sunday between the Nire and Kilrossanty. Be nice to see Kilrossanty win there first title since 1989 but its hard to look past the Nire

2 Waterford clubs are in action in the Munster club hurling championships on sunday. Intermediate champs Clonea face Limerick champs Garryspillane in Dungarvan and Ballygunner face Cork runners up Midleton in Walsh park. Club hurling can be very unpredicable and now is really Ballygunners time to make a statement in Munster as aside from Na Piarasigh of Limerick (Still have to win the Limerick title first) and Clares Ballyea they are the most experienced team in the Munster championship this year and have it in them to go far, Midleton wont be easy and have a few star players like Lehane and O Farell. Clonea were fairly average in the intermeidate final and its hard to see them being able to beat a team like Garryspillane but ya never knw

Met a couple of Cork lads over the weekend. Typical overconfidence about Cork's prospects in 2019, but their main points of discussion were how Limerick had no chance of retaining their trophy (why, because they're Limerick) and then they were both hoping to see an end to sweeper systems, and a return to '15 on 15' in 2019.

Obviously the were looking at me, as a Waterford man, for my response! I must say I'm a bit fed up of listening to this type of rubbish from people in other counties. On a personal level you will not meet a more genuine guy than Doxer Byrnes. A gentleman. I don’t see him involved in the frontline of the set up when it comes to the training/drills etc as that isn’t his role. I’ll ask the question though, has he any less experience than Eoin Murphy when he was brought in as a selector? Murphy had zero experience with any age group or any level of club team and yet was considered a great option for a selector. I wouldn’t worry about Doxer at all or Ger Harris in his role as team secretary they both will be more than adequate.

Why is it any time a team from Waterford is leathered it's always the managers fault? Same team even has the same problem three years a part with two different management teams, still all the managers fault.

Its unreal, no matter who you are or what you're role is there's somebody thinks you're not up to it. Underage teams are notoriously unpredictable. At least with minor now, you get a couple of games with them but it's no basis to judge whether a fella is up to it with hindsight. These fellas mentioned are excellent now, but were they 6 years ago?

I think that fellas credentials are completely discounted on the basis of u21 hurling is even more ludicrous. It's literally all on the day in that grade, not akin to senior intercounty at all really.

Doxer got Ferrybank to an eastern final two years ago and hasn't been over or involved with the team since and since he left they have done nothing at all
