Casey has “done well for himself” as a self made millionaire. He was also involved in the Good Friday Agreement.

Sure, if he's paying for her out of his own pocket, and doesn't have an official role.

But he's not paying, the state is. And if an individual is part of an official entourage we should know who they are and what their role is.

They’re his staff when it suits him. When there are difficult questions about expenses etc they are the staff of the office of the president.

The man has worked all his life as a high profile politician, in jobs that happen to pay well, do you think he should have given his wages away? As for what has he achieved in his career? Lots actually if you motivated yourself to look into it you would find that out for yourself but here's a short list for the googling impaired.

When Minister for Arts he reinvigoration of the Irish film industry.
Responsible for the creation of TG4.
Involved with the repeal of censorship under Section 31 of the Broadcasting Acts.

When I was in the LP, with Mickey D, it was deemed right to criticise and ridicule Bertie, when he paid for his make up etc.

Look I think we’re all going to have to disagree here. Vote for whoever you want, that’s what a democracy is all about.

Just be sure you’re doing it for the right reasons and not because Peter Casey said one thing you agree with or Joan Freeman seems nice or because Michael D included his florist in his entourage and takes good care of his dogs or because you want to give the finger to the establishment.

The right to vote was hard won - don’t be frivolous with it or use as a protest.

It might be the fact it constantly quotes himself and has no input from the man himself . It's just another PR vehicle, wonder who pays for it

Probably because of the election - I’d imagine you’ll see him at lot less once it’s over.

I hope it wouldn’t turn you off voting for him though.

I'm sure he has someone on it, but the president has many assistants, I don't think that'll change no matter who's president.
Casey has raised great questions, but some of the side suggestions behind the presidential expenses are ridiculous.
No president will or could be a one man show.
I don't think the savings any of them might make will be anything other than miniscule as regards to presidential expenses, thats just meaningless white noise.

Casey has referred to this several times. His "involvement" seems to have been going to a meeting in Washington DC once.

I 100% believe it. The president should be an example for the people of the country. Not spending hundreds of thousands on frivolities during a massive recession.

Ah I was only joking about the expenses .But at the same time, the presidents staff should not be getting paid (by the taxpayer) to work on his campaign. I would imagine it comes from his campaign funds

The recession is over now. Just because you might be struggling doesn’t mean everyone has to.
