We need a new left back of course but it’s not going to improve the attack significantly, what we need is a player who will nail down a position in attack and score some bloody goals. It would make no odds pulling names from a hat for a starting position between Pogba, Martial, Sanchez, Mata, Lingard because they all lack consistency and I forsee Mourinho being forced to chop and change early on as he did most of last season, which will lead to the “does Mourinho not know his best team?” remarks . Honestly which one of those players will score 15+ goals in the league next season? None is my prediction.
Mourinho wanted five signings, two full backs, a centre back, a CM and a right winger. Doesn't want Shaw and Young as left backs but has given up on that. No Willian or Perisic because of their age. Feels the board doesn't care about winning the title and happy with a top 4 finish.

Sebastian Dangerfield wrote: » I saw something similar in an Andy Mitten article yesterday. Something along the lines of "United - the club rather than the manager - won't sanction the signing of a left back". Maybe they're insisting that a young talent like Shaw be fully utilised rather than discarded, but it will probably result in Jose using Young at every opportunity.

He has got 2 signings in the door already, sanchez with a full pre season behind him already. Luke shaw with a full pre season behind him. A couple more signings on the way. He should be positive for the new season

It would be so much simpler if it was Jose not making the signings and/or getting the best out of what hes got. Just change the manager and back a new one. Of course Jose has to take his share of the blame with how things have gone but that passage from Castles(again if true) is utterly depressing as a Utd fan and is basically the club giving up and settling for mediocrity. IF true, I cant see Jose lasting the season. I think he may walk.

A good one, that should boost Pogba too. But if you think we're closing a 19 point gap by buying Fred..... I've said I'll judge the window when it closes, but the vibes seem to be we're going to our third or forth choices now, and part of it isn't due to being turned down, it's due to Woody basically not backing the manager.
