Being listening to Thomas Dayspring on YouTube I see....

As for the test, not from what I could find out last year.

You should be able to get Lpa and oxidised LDL tested though There is a doctor from South Africa in Maynooth, Neville I think, who might be a place to check.

From what I read before if your LDL volume is high but with high HDL and low triglycerides it generally means LDL particle size is big and hence particle number low. You might want to check though it's been a while :-)

I'm going to try and ring that Doc now. Appreciate that!

So my blood results are as follows:

Total Cholesterol: 8.1

Trig: 0.85

HDL: 2.08

LDL: 5.6

If what you said in the last sentence is true...im a happy bunny. Doc is prescribing a statin. I'm 38 and in the shape of my life and feeling great at just over 20% BF!

I know there is more modern thinking of using HDL and LDL as a measurement but still,8 doesnt look too healthy.

Probably didn't come across what I wanted to say there davmol. I am not the best at articulating at times. I am totally not happy the doc was prescribing me a statin. I was really pissed off and upset!!

Total Cholesterol doesn't paint the total picture. Total Cholestrol WILL be high if I am on a Ketogenic WOE (Very Low Carb High Fat)
High Cholesterol doesn't cause CHD though, inflammation does. I am absolutely convinced I have nothing to worry about, would like to get this particle size test to confirm.
I am thinking that my LDL particles are on the large size rather than the small and harmful type, but again as I said, need to get this checked and not too many places, unfortunately, in this country seem to offer.
Docs are only hellbent on the total cholesterol figure instead of drilling down.
Much too quick to prescribe statins than further investigation. I suppose they have outdated guidelines that they must follow for insurance reasons.

Some people on HFLC respond the way you have, maybe 1/3 from what I have read.

Some people, like you, get very elevated LDL on HFLC and hence very high TC.

Others seem to have more or less unchanged LDL.

However raised HDL and lowered Triglycerides seem universal. Yours seem excellent.

While raised HDL correlates with low risk for CVD, I've to see the study where raising it has lowered CVD events. I.e. correlation yes, causation???

I've also yet been unable to find a description of process as to how HDL reduces damage to
arteries.
