Some of our players will have been going all season in the PL then straight to a lengthy WC campaign. They will need a few weeks off and will be given those few weeks off I'd imagine. With a fair amount of them still involved with England, Belgium and France, I expect a scarce enough pre-season tour and a less than ideal preparation for the new season. Pre-season games will be great for giving some young players a chance in the senior team, to get the non-WC players back into action, to help reintroduce Andreas Pereira to the team and the few new signings. However, you'd have to imagine that no matter what progress these young players and new signings make during the pre-season games, they're probably not going to keep the likes of Pogba, Rashford, Lukaku, Fellaini, Lingard, Young, Smalling, Jones out of the team when those WC players return. Some of those players, Jose will favour immediately when they become available, but they might not be back in training until the first week of August at the earliest.

Effectively those players will be using the opening weeks of the league as their pre season. Its crazy when you think about it. At least Spanish clubs have until end of August .

Might not play much and with Dalot coming in and TFM back you'd think Darmian especially is expendable. The club has 4 injury prone centre backs and one injury prone LB though so I wouldn't be rushing Blind out the door. Still think he should have been the one to give Matic a break last season but I guess he had his own injury problems. Would be a bit of a waste for him to go back to Ajax imo as he's a very tidy footballer and one of the best tacklers I've ever seen.

He never brought him in, start or sub, for Matic - never played him DM at all as far as I can think. then with Dalot coming in, and TFM possibly coming in for this season... what is the point in keeping Blind in case we need him for a full match this season? There really isn't a need to keep Blind - his usage in two seasons under Mourinho shows he couldn't be more surplus to requirements - regardless of how anyone here or elsewhere think he could prove himself usefull.

So United has the choice of selling at a less than inflated price or keeping them in contract, costing further millions til they leave on a free. Also, keeling them means we don't replace them, which means the squad is weakened moving into the future too.
