Anyone else listen to Sean Moncrieff in the afternoons? I couldn't take anymore Joe Duffy, the misery was wearing me down. I'm not decided if I like Sean's programme or not, but it's a change from the unrelenting tales of woe.

that's very sad news. he was an incredibly wise man who made so much sense. i don't have kids but he was still the kind of person that would make you want to have them, because he made it sound so straight forward.

when i hear the other psychologists on, i spend most of the time thinking that David Carey would've had this question answered in 2 sentences and you know he's right, rather than them faffing about. i know they all have their own opinions on how things are done, but his just seemed the best.

I'm saddened to hear this awful news too. Like with the late Paolo Tullio, one of the joys of David's radio slots was when he started telling little anecdotes about what he'd been up to or about his own family. It didn't matter if you have kids in that age bracket or not. He helped make the feature into good radio. The replacements are capable but a bit dull

Liked that clip they played of him 'You'll never be the best parent ever, just do the best you can' so simple but true.

I've just listened to the little David Carey piece on podcast. It was lovely to hear his voice again but also sad of course. Sean said they'll be rebroadcasting an extended interview he did with him a few Christmases ago.

RIP David Carey. A man with a fascinating life, who never made himself the focus. As others have said, a real bastion of just common decent, sense. A man who recognised the truth about parenting; it isn't easy, kids will be kids, and it isn't something to be approached with surgical gloves or reduced to some algorithmic protocol for success.

He had a great voice for radio. He had humour. He had a caring touch couched in a paternal surety. I have missed him and will continue to.

I have no kids myself but I always felt that his advice was measured and knowledgeable, his voice was incredibly calming too. RIP

me too. Had a little cry listening to it-such a lovely man. Will really miss his advice weekly. RIP David.

Such a beautiful tribute to David Carey from Sean and his team. It had me blubbing on my flight home.

He seemed so genuine and kind hearted. Despite not having or even liking children he managed to make my favourite radio slot of the week. It was so informative.

It will be nice to hear more about his life on Wednesday.

Such a shame to hear about David Carey, anytime I managed to catch him on the radio I was glued for some good advice. A decent man with a lot of common sense. As for Sean Men need to be saved from themselves really all Men, is that not like saying Muslims need to be saved from themselves when they stone women to death or what they do to Homosexuals in Islam or is that not a safe subject to write about.

Moncreiff should be ashamed of himself. I've always hated him because of his smarmy, facetious tone. But I think I hate him more because he's jumping right on board with the men bashing. He should stand up for men for once, instead of allowing the media to focus on isolated incidents to paint us all with the one brush.

Is it THAT hard for the media to find positive stories about men, they have positive stories about women every day of the week?

Effeminate types like Moncrief have a hard time understanding the sometimes destructive (and the flip-side, its creative) aspects of males with high, or normal, testosterone. - so its understandable why he'd write such navel-gazing drivel.

I think you need to look up the definition of the words erudite and good, neither of which could be applied to this cringe worthy virtue signalling nonsense.

It's an embrassing article. Moncrief and the IT should be ashamed of publishing such nonsense but it's pretty much standard for them at this point.

Articles like this prove exactly why allowing people a platform with very little critical ability is quite stupid. Anyone with half a brain can see what is going on here.
