African Americans accounted for 52.5% of all homicide offenders from 1980 to 2008, with whites 45.3% and "Other" 2.2%. The offending rate for African Americans was almost 8 times higher than whites, and the victim rate 6 times higher.

Also hard to see them compete up against Vlads new range of (7,000mph) throwing sticks. How many community centers or street bobbies would £10bn get these days?

They are not ready for them the planes will be ready when the carrier is ready, RAF personal are training with f35's off American platforms at present and when the QE carrier's are ready the plains and pilot's will be also.

Bailey Bald Stoplight wrote: » Why- for real-world sea trials, you wouldn't test an empty wheelbarrow. For sure not ready, the F-35 fighter jet programme has gone disastrously awry, terrifying the Americans with its £150 billion cost overrun and seven-year delay (7 years!). Britain planned to put 36 F-35s on each carrier. So stupendous is their cost that this has shrunk to just 12!
Bailey Bald Stoplight wrote: » There is no war, and none currently requiring these, and if there is ever a proper WW3, the only option for the 99% in 'MAD' is to dig a hole, count the tinned beans and hope for the best. Sure you can't police Facebook, but you can set aside a budget for community policing in London, and reducing the 30,000 or so knife crimes, which any bloke on the street would prefer, over big slow boats. Ask the 78yr in today's papers who last night was confronted in his kitchen, about his thoughts on crime levels.

The NHS was on it's knees over the winter, schools are overcrowded and under-performing, crime is up (yet another stabbing this morning in Ldn). New York City (and especially Manhattan) if I'm correct is statistically one of the safest places in the entire US and one of the safer major cities in the world. It just comes over as lazy on the writer's part, and going off a reputation that New York had from a quarter of a century ago.

That's why these bulk number breakdowns can be misleading, as New York itself has one of the lowest murder rates in the USA of any large enough city. The murder rate in Buffalo is about five times higher than NYC, Philadelphia about six times higher, and St. Louis has a murder rate over 16.5 times higher than NYC (highest in the US).
