Welcome to the Mayo GAA discussion thread - Chapter 3, yer trotting them out quicker than a Mills & Boon Romance !.

This is one of the most active forums on Boards.ie. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives.

- Trolling.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling.

A team as skilful as they were in their prime could not be touched, probably even now imo, and I've said it before, they were poetry in fluid motion that could quickly adapt no matter what was thrown at them. Maby I'm getting too old for the "new" game.

Found the displays of some of panelists hoping to win a starting position very disappointing.Shane Nally had a very underwhelming outing and Sean O Shea gave Stephen Coen a horrid time at centre back.I was surprised at the decision to take O Shea off.We lost the midfield battle in the first half and Barry Moran faded after a decent start,Jason Gibbons and Neil Douglas struggled greatly to make a real impression.

The greatest threat came from the rampaging runs of Paddy Durcan who has to let off the leash to a far greater extent.

It's going to be a tough trip to Pearse stadium next Sunday and as mentioned I fear greatly the damage Damian Comer will do if he's placed on the edge of the square.The tribesmen's tails are very much up.

I'd expect its Hassett that has brought the thuggery to the Kerry game in the past few years. They are reaching the levels of Tyrone at their worst, sad to see. kerry could easily of finished with 10 players yesterday if the ref had the ba##s to implement the rules.

Besides the Kerry cynicism, it has to be said that we were absolute trash. The worst forward display i have seen from us in several years, remarkably still no upcoming forwards making this team.

We'll see if Liston, O'shea and splillane will highlight it ?? Not a chance. They have been cynical like this for a number of years but last night was a new low for them from beginning to end.

Yeah some shocking wides, wouldn't expect that lack of sharpness later in the year, so shouldn't be too worried about it. C O' Connor was showing signs of it in August/September last year though. If ye could blood a couple of dangerous forwards this year ye would have a great chance again. Only weakness of note I see otherwise is Cafferkey. Can't fathom why he is regularly starting for ye.

Stoner it is been repeated at midnight tomorrow night on Eir Sports 1 and 4.30 PM Tuesday and Wednesday.

The weekend games are repeated several times during the week on Eir Sports.Check their schedule re the times.

I don't think there is any Eir player.

The Hurlers manager was quoted in an article last week saying Keith will be staying with the hurlers for a few weeks.

I think some Mayo fans need a bit of perspective. We don't take the league seriously, we don't do that for the very good reason that it is too much to ask of the players to take both league and championship seriously when half the squad live on the other side of the country and have 8-9 years football behind them. Therefore there are going to be games where we look rubbish and get well beaten, that is just a reality for us. Also, our lads are only back from the team holiday.

Secondly, Kerry are at present full of young players and they will undoubtedly be looking to get a head of steam up, like Donegal were doing early last year with their youngsters. They were always going to be fitter and better prepared for this game.

Thirdly, considering we are late back, there is a strong probability that our lads have had some tough training the last week - again par for the course for the AI finalists.

Finally, if we actually are the great fans that we are supposed to be, we would understand all that 100%, and wouldn't need to revisit it after every loss...

There was some awful messing at the ST turnstiles on Saturday evening. Cards not scanning and people just being waved on. I had to move 3 times before I found someone who knew what they were at.

Based on the crowd the far side and behind the goal, I'd have thought it would have been closer to 14-15k but could be wrong.

Incidentally, was the attendance at the Monaghan game last week ever announced or published anywhere?

Agree with much of your post but fans great or otherwise are always going to analyze the minutiae of a game in the aftermath of a win or more especially a loss irrespective of the said game's importance.It's not unique to Mayo fans,GAA fans etc.It is a characteristic across supporters of all kinds.

What the hell else are we going to talk about until the next game?:D

I understand that. However, surely any analysis worth its salt would allow for at least part of what I mentioned there? That is the problem, it isn't analysis at all. A lot of it seems to be lads annoyed that we don't win every game all the time...

100% legit concern. You really need a touch tight marker for comer and track him. For me there is only one player that does this but he is out for a while.

Agree on Caff and Comer not going to go well. But I think Harrisson might be able to do a job there. Time will tell.

Probably a bit of fiddleing going on.one for you,one for me kinda malarkey.declare half it and pocket the rest.there was a certain well known hurling venue in the West famous for it up to recently.a lot of satchels going back a tad bit light

If you give it you got to be prepared to take it. Kerry went up there to play football. Mayo had other ideas and went out to bully a young kerry team and got a rude awakening when they got as good as they gave.
