If yes, try and find spelt hulls. Spelt is now being grown for bread making and whoever is assembling would be only too glad to be rid of the hulls. Cost should be transport. Pit the brew with as much spelt hulls as the mix would take. For when grass is rich and low dm, that mix would be excellent...then drop soya hulls and increase grain maize with money saved.
If I’d access to brew I’d be on it.

Once dry 30 days it is, have even tested cows biestings with charm test and was negative, brilliant piece of mind not having to worry about a fresh Calver getting into the tank by mistake

ye sent a couple of samples with milkman this morning to be sure but no answer from lab today.

Get it tested if not sure, once they are dry long enough should be ok. The amount of antibiotic in them is less than others tubes which is part of the reason I think

What’s the story with Teat sealers?
Can’t get them anywhere.
Haven’t used dry cow tubes for a while, just sealers and no bother so far. I only need a couple a dozen every week. Back to antibiotics again...

Not here anyway available in coops etc. Boviseal is popular brand.

Generally for bins if getting coarse ration before we would keep molasses below 2.5% as it would stick. That was stuff we were pttingjn a wagon tho not thru parlour feeders

Was that lakelands. Their coarse dairy ration is very dusty. We use it in the feeder wagon

Used sureseal as well and have had a couple cows break down with hard quarters.i thought i did a good job drying off but with the building busy a scraper issue wasnt sorted and slurry is backing up inplaces which us all contributing to less ideal conditions

How many milkings do ye keep out of the tank with cep ravin, cows were dried 1st December and calving 1st February.

Used sure seal last year. Never again! Not one cow calved down with any trace of sealer.
Rep told me we put it in wrong but it was just BS. We've been using sealer for nearly ten years now and never an issue.
Back to boviseal this year.

and so calving is about to begin.everybody wishes everyone happy christmas.instead i wish ye that all cows calve during the day,no mastitis in heifers,no downers,no cleanings kept,no scour in calves,all twins same sex,a dry march,no milk fever,all yer fr are heifers and no slip up with antibiotic milk.
