One day I went out and gave out to a gang of black teenagers for whacking balls off the car. It was not intentional I should say but I ran them and told them play ball on the green. One came up and shook his fist in my face and said you are only saying that because we are black and then said “Black power” very threateningly. They were skinny young teens at the time but I could see the likes of them now being the type to form gangs. The large number of immigrant families in places like these have led to the formation of ghetto areas in some of the newer estates in areas such as the article mentions.

Shaking your fist into the face of a woman and saying black power in a threatening manner is racist. Should they be allowed hit the cars because they are black.? People excusing this type of behavior has led to the problem in the first place.

Any post that starts with "So you believe...." and a barrage of loaded stuff after it never sits well with me. Where did I infer any of that? I think your post wprls on a lot of assumptions there.
Why should anyone feel ashamed of events carried out by a government of yesteryear just because they were born in the same jurisdiction generations later?
Should a fella born in Düsseldorf 20 years ago feel ashamed of what the Nazis did?
Do I feel ashamed of the our State's actions with the Magdalene laundries and the church abuses. Not really, they were nothing to do with me.

Wibbs wrote: » So avoiding my question entirely then? Yes we have existing social problems without adding the integration of new populations into the culture. That is quite clearly a different and new to Ireland social problem and other European countries consistently illustrate this and have done for decades. But you seem to imagine that somehow we'll magically avoid those problems?
Wibbs wrote: » And compared to places like the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Ireland has a small percentage of new people here. Yet even at these low numbers people, as they naturally will, tend to group together in an area, often leading to a ghettoisation, doubly so if it's low income folks. With all the clearly observable and repeated throughout Europe problems this brings. To deny this is well... And yet many well meaning folks continue to deny it's a potential issue, never mind a demonstrable one elsewhere. But no, let's sing kumbaya together, shout racism!! to any counter discussion and hope it'll be different this time. It won't. It could well be worse. Many of the same well meaning folks would be just as likely to acknowledge and point to how Travellers are treated by wider Irish society, yet think wider Irish society will magically not go a similar mindset regarding immigration?

It’s exactly what happened in Britain and I can see it happening here. Is this the singular cause of the social issues in Britains ghettos? No. Is it a contributing factor? Yes. This narrow minded bull **** only makes things worse.
