This particular organisation did call the police though. They didn't physically harm the individual. While some of their language was a bit OTT, you could give them a pass on it as they themselves are parents. Many people would bash a would-be pedo if they caught them in the act of going to a hotel to meet a child.

I don't think we need worry about how he is to be charged - that's for the courts to decide. the police have a difficult balancing act here. they need to keep the peace in these situations where these groups are involved. they need to get the suspect away to the police station, and not cause a situation where people start to cause any trouble.
i'd reccan that the police being seen by these groups to be sort of okay with them, even if they actually aren't, means there is a large chance of being able to get the job done.
it's how the legal framework will work, that is being discussed by a couple of posters who your reply is aimed at, rather then people worrying about how he will be charged. it's an interesting discussion in itself and one worth having i think.

This particular guy was talking to three decoys, at least, posing as young girls. He was saying suggestive stuff and sending pictures of his penis. I know the argument is there that he wasn't talking to real girls but when you couple it with the fact he had a fake FB profile with exclusively teen girls as friends I'd say it's a good thing he was caught. He could've easily got chatting to any of those Facebook friends via private mail and steered the conversations the same way as these ones with horrific potential.

I know this won’t be a popular opinion I really think we have reached the stage that social media should be for over 18s only I know it wouldn’t be possible to do this but at this stage it’s an avenue worth exploring. Delighted that this dirty scum has been caught that group do great work strange comments from other posters saying they are full of weirdos.

I know myself from my bebo days, my friends would accept anyone as a friend. Then they'd laugh off their creepy comments. I think they liked the attention, not realising how dangerous it is. If you don't know exactly who they are, do not add them, it's so risky. Especially when Facebook has the check in function, you check in a few times and they know where you like to hang out.

I think a lot of people (not just kids) see a friend request / an add on Social Media as bolstering their profile. It's a numbers game for many.
