I waited to eat my pancakes until my partners dish was being fixed and then discovered they had nothing with/on them - was expecting bacon underneath (as it was to come with bacon & syrup). At that point I'd been waiting long enough that I just worked away and ate them, which I know I'll probably be lambasted for but I was hungry. Poached eggs were hard and overcooked, but really it was the service that let the place down. It wasn't overly busy, there's a buffet - so service should be better than what we got. I was going to give feedback to the manager when I paid up - I wasn't asked if everything was okay so left it off, took in the nice view for a few minutes and headed away. Simple solution for myself is simply not to return as I didn't enjoy the experience.

Myself and my girlfriend will be in Cork to celebrate her birthday and will be staying in the city on the Sunday night before moving on to Castlemartyr for a few nights. I have picked up a lot of restaurant names from this thread and from tripadvisor but I was curious to ask if there was one restaurant you would say we must try out then where would it be? At the minute I'm considering CoqBull and Elbow Lane based on good reviews and central locations but they might be a bit too casual or pub-like? (hard to tell) We also like Italian, tapas, Thai, steakhouses... but we're not really fish eaters. I really appreciate any help you guys can give. Oh and if there's some cool bars where she might be able to get a cocktail or a good G&T then let me know too.

We had dinner there back in June and it was lovely now but like that the service was very scattered alright -it took ages for them to bring our drink order from the bar which was only a few steps away. They were very friendly in there though. Was thinking recently of going there for brunch but not sure now - you say they have a buffet breakfast there? Is that the one for residents so but non-residents can have it too?

Arrived about 5 minutes after the rest of the group and when I got to the table my friends told me the hostess (manager?) told them when she seated them “for future reference we usually don’t seat you until the whole group arrive”. Also when I arrived the hostess rushed me up the stairs...even though I was only 5 minutes after the others! Didn’t like her attitude at all. Bizarre policy. I’ve worked in many restaurants and never heard of anything like this before. Kinda turned me off the place tbh!
