This is one of the most active forums on Boards.ie. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

For the draw tonight I'd like Mayo to get a bye straight to a SF v Leitrim or Sligo, it's been a while since we got that.

Then win the final v one of the other two in Castlebar.

The fine tuning can be done in the QF group.

I thought all replays were off next year or is that only in the championship.

Really should be extra time and the replay only for county finals.

All down to them needing the final played this Sunday so that Mayo have a team up against Mohill in the Connachts the following Sunday?

BTubber should win that, but Cbar have a lot of experience.

Re the Castlebar B team, I believe there is a situation where there is 4-5 teams that can be relegated in their division depending on results in the last game, and so the CB require all games to be on at the same time.

Looking at their last few results, Id wager they had a nice few first team players playing for the second team, to give them a fighting chance of staying up in the first place, so that one swings both ways.

CPA were in negotiations with the CCCCCCCCCC regarding the master fixtures list for next year. Met with them in Croke PArk on Tuesday last week. Wanted the whole month of April for club.

I agree that it's a ridiculous situation but isn't this old news and hasn't action already been taken in the form of next year's restructured AI Championship? Bringing the AI final forward those few weeks should help a lot. Extra time is a no brainer for me.

In a way we're lucky to have this problem but that doesn't make it right. No AI final for Mayo = no real problem for Clubs.

One hundred percent agree,it was top quality contest.

Ridiculous that they didn't simply play extra time on Sunday.These lads have day jobs or are studying.

Those soft underfoot conditions last night must have been very energy sapping for the Mitchels lads.Shane Nally was one of many players who appeared to be out on his feet.Three testing games in seven days and a quarter final the week previous. Crazy stuff.

I'd fancy Ballintubber but not overly so.

I certainly agree on the stature of the Provincial champs. I was lucky enough to be involved with a club who won a county title a couple of years ago.

Winning the county was overwhelmingly the be all and end all – to be honest we pretty much stopped training after it and unsurprisingly lost in Connacht. There was a man and his dog at the Connacht semi and it was like a training session, in terms of intensity and effort from both sides, who were working off the drink more than anything!

Fair enough, Mayo had an outlier season in terms of number of matches but planning everything around the Provincial Championships (which Corofin will win anyway) is indeed “farcical” imo.

On another note though they really need to bring in a tie-break system for club Championship matches at this stage of the season. Imagine telling your boss in Dublin on Monday (in an MNC for example) you have to take a half day on Wednesday to play a GAA match!

And if it's level after that, surely a period can be played where the first team to go ahead by 2 clear points or something, or else whoever is leading after 5 mins or something like that

Replays at this time of the season are complete disasters

Ballyhaunis almost won the Connacht intermediate last year.

Mitchels 2-14 Garrymore 0-12

Mitchels were very comfortable in the second half,Garrymore never got closer than five points.

Castlebar Mitchels v Ballintubber on Sunday in the county final.

It should be a cracker,might be televised on TG4.

Quality contest thus far considering the conditions.

Ballintubber do look impressive. Claremorris very naive going man for man at the back against some of the best forwards in the game. Castlebar or garrymore will play a sweeper or two in the final. Ballintubber have too many smart playmakers to leave space in front of their full forward line.
Replay on Wednesday will be interesting. Castlebar the stronger for long periods of the game but Garrymore held their shape and at times rode their luck at the back. Garrymore did finish with a lot of momentum and if there was another minute or two could have won it. Kirby and Douglas well marshalled by Garrymore, can they be as quiet in the replay? Nally's two points were exceptional as was the last free kick by Killeen.
