Annoying Gym Behaviour - Mk2(?)

Whatever happened to that old thread? I loved that thread.

Anyway, wanted it back because it's entertaining reading. I'm finding it hard to get the ball rolling because at 6.30am there's not much in the way of annoying behaviour in my gym. The usual plates not returned to racks or whatever. Or people splashing big gross wet footprints around the place after the shower.

What new horror stories have we for 2015?

sidenote, the no chalk thing is BS I've seen 2/3 of the trainers using it. If they can't get their own staff to not use it they can f right off with their "strictly no chalk" crap

Rollers provided in mine, chalk banned and surely walking to and from the changing rooms to work out area isn't going to 'damage' them.... At least you actually use the bag.

That generally happens in the globogym style places that are prone to locker thefts.

In every other gym I've been to where there's a bit of camaraderie it never happens.

The latest 'craze' seems to be for 'juice heads' to walk around with a small gym bag like this, during their entire workout.

I thought it was just a my gym thing (Carlisle in Kimmage), but recently was in LA Fitness in Long Island, exact same carry on with juice heads there.

Nothing even seems to come out of, or go into said bag, which makes the whole thing more weird.

That would be wraps, not straps. Perfectly fine to wear wraps for any exercise for the reasons you mentioned. Straps offer noting for non pulling exercises and you need to actively put them on each set. So would be a wtf for curls imo.

My gym had an open week not too long ago and it was carnage. There was a guy benching in the squat rack who was trapped under 30 kg, another guy benching lopsided 40 with a 10 plate on one side and on the other a series of tiny 2.5, 1.5 weights that didn't seem to add up, someone front squatting halfway down with their mate behind them reaching through to grasp the weight as their buddy squatted.

When I'm 2 working sets into using a cable machine that's been vacant for the past 5 minutes, she comes over and says she was using it.

Love, I've almost finished what I'm doing before you've done one circuit of whatever the hell you're at.

Watched her after and she had a bench, 2 other machines and a rack in use.

I just told her I didn't realise and she could work in. Got a 'tut', walked off and set up on a different cable machine.

On Wednesday there was 2 lads sitting on a bench staring at a PT and client (both female) from only a couple of yards away as they did some stuff that involved being on their hands and feet with their arses in the air.
It was all kinds of ignorant and creepy and could easily cost the PT money if the client copped what was going on and didn't come back.

Twas in the City gym, that's why I was surprised. Only seen Rob film there before, and he has permission I assume because he's the face of their Academy thing.

In terms of the gym being a public space, it's a Private Club (IE paid members only) so realistically, they shouldn't be filming in there. When I've done work in private spaces I always have to alert people to my presence.

Anyway, I'm not worried about it, just, who the f*ck is watching skinny lads in self made stringer shirts working out online?!

They need the permission of the property owner to record anything on private property. If you have someone working as an actor in a commercial video you need a talent release form for them, but I doubt your face happening to show up in the background of a video counts for that. You're only protected where you have a reasonable expectation of privacy: in the locker rooms they wouldn't have a leg to stand on, on the street you have no right to privacy...on the gym floor? I'd say it's pretty much a public space.

Anyway, complain to management that they're making you uncomfortable and they're causing a disturbance - I'd be surprised if their policy wasn't to disallow that kind of thing, they might not even have noticed.

Only annoyance I have is not wiping sweat off, my gym is pretty small and everyone is sound but the odd time they just walk off.

My gym is too hot, if you need to lose weight for a prize fight it's the best place but otherwise the building is not built for purpose and is roasting, cardio is not fun, long breaks are needed.
