Doesn't even need to hit the ground, as McGregor said, one leg kick and there goes Floyd's ACL. Floyd gets close and he gets taken down, he stays at a distance and he gets kicked. Floyd would be 50/1 in an MMA bout.

I have to ask..what was Rousey's main discipline? Didn't Holmes box the **** out of her? I may be wrong there. Same for Aldo, didn't McG knock him the F O? I think a boxer wouldn't be completely hopeless in a cage because at least he has that one refined discipline.

Maybe you haven't been following the thread but there have been disingenuous posters trying to sit on both sides of the fence. It is pathetic and pointless, when someone just nail's the colours to the mast, whether they feel McGregor will win or not isn't important, just taking a position and being honest enough to stand by it is admirable comparatively.

I like to think I've always been open minded enough to change my opinions on things if I'm presented with good evidence that my previous opinion was absolute tripe, so if Floyd wins I'll be eating humble pie.

As for the thought process, it's not that I think Conor has *any* advantages over Floyd whatsoever. I think he has vastly inferior handspeed, footwork, jab, reflexes, combinations. Floyd is better in every single aspect of boxing.

But a) sport is littered with examples of people/teams being vastly superior in every aspect and still losing and b) I don't think Conor is going to win a technical boxing match, I think he's going to make it an ugly fight.

I was encouraged by the events of the last week. Tiernan Bradley was discussing the session between Paulie and Conor, and was adamant Conor bossed that session. He was saying that on an instagram live stream with 3 men and a dog watching it, so he had no reason to lie.

Paulie himself admitted the black eye was from Conor landing a "couple of good shots" but that he marks up easier when he's out of practice, so I won't read too much into it... but, to be fair, a lot of people online were telling me Conor wouldn't land a single punch in sparring - even against a slow, fat Paulie.

They've already been proved wrong.

I hope everyone will be open-minded enough as we get closer to the fight and post-fight to give a fair appraisal of what went down:

If Floyd wins I'll be the first to come on to this thread and say I was misguided/delusional/clueless about the intricacies of boxing and the disparity of speciality between the 2 fighters and 2 sports.

I fundamentally believe Conor will win too, it's not 'hope'.

I'll make one prediction, which I'm very confident about. Conor will be visibly talking sh1t to Floyd during referee instructions and from the opening bell. That might seem like an obvious prediction but for any MMA fans they'll know that Conor didn't say a single word to Nate Diaz in the rematch or to Eddie Alvarez during ref's instructions.

Cool story. You had a total of 2 posts in the boxing forum until Conor v Floyd was announced.

As for me, well I've been a fan of boxing since the late 1980's, early 1990's but the era I was a big fan was the mid-1990's.

Which forums I choose to discuss boxing, or any other topics, are my prerogative... boards generally isn't the place that I usually discuss sports. That's completely my preference... I'm sure there are plenty of lurker accounts on here, that never post, but possibly have a wealth of knowledge!

It's because come the morning after fight night, theses 1%ers (or 5%ers if you prefer) will be in talking nonsense either way.

Floyd wins: Was to be expected, no-one thought McGregor would win.

McGregor wins: Told ya so, sometimes all you need is 1% chance. Etc etc etc.

They are hedging their bets to cover themselves, no other reason.

The only way those giving Conor some realistic "logic argued" chance to win will be truly silenced will be because Floyd dominates Conor with ease. Any semblance of competitiveness for however long the fight lasts will be their get out of jail card. And I'm not talking about score cards here, just the action and flow of the rds. Any semblance of competitiveness will be a "victory" for Conor.

Like I said, he had nothing to really lose. Floyd has it all to lose, so for Floyd to save some face for me, he needs to be very clearly dominating.

Like many others I watch a ****load of boxing on youtube. I discovered yesterday that Mayweather v Maidana 1 is now on youtube. The tag says it was posted 2 years ago but I've never came across it until now. I don't know why that is..I only ever downloaded a couple of fights.
