This is one of the most active forums on Boards.ie. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

Seriously, after your comments on your own thread I suggest you stay back over there. You know it wasn't until that post that I really felt the level of pity and disdain with which Roscommon are held by most Mayo supporters, but having read what you and other Rossie's have had to say, I get it now.

If in doubt, this is the post in question.

You have to laugh at the cockroaches reference. That thread was dead for a good year from the nuclear fallout after winning a few Div 1 games. They've all come crawling back in recent weeks.

(Apologies to any decent Rossies out there. I met one once, turns out he wasn't really from Rossieland but had been forced to move there by his parents. But he was a nice fella, moved away at his first chance obviously)

You would have to wonder at the substitutions. Regan(again), Dillon(why was he operating between the HB and FB lines when he came on?)

Where was Boland today? Dropped from the panel? What does Nally have to do to get a run out?

Higgins was utterly lost today as a defender/sweeper.Cork didn't bother with the wings(apart from the two chances they missed at the death). Straight down the middle. An effective sweeper would have been of some support to Caff.

Also why wasn't the Cork number 5 picked up? He caused us such problems every time he got on the ball. Also no point in Andy winning ball inside the 14 when the nearest Mayo player is 50yds away from him and it has to be recycled back out the field.

Thought Mayo were brilliant today, huge performances all over the field, the problem was the two goals, should have been home and dry long ago.

I thought those goals were coming for all of the second half, they looked inevitable, and sure enough they came.

That's the biggest worry, getting undone by goals.

I said last week that I'd prefer Kerry in the QF, well I changed my tune, they need to recharge, so to do that they are better getting Roscommon.

Christ above 'cockroaches' - if that's your opinion of people from another county you've a lot more to be worrying about than whether Roscommon can beat Mayo

Wouldn't call beating Cork by one point AET whom have been struggling for form and had off the field issues all year as brilliant. The way Mayo were cut open for both goals and many other goals that was created was far from brilliant either. Cork would have been less wasteful in front of the post if L. Connolly, C. O’Neill, M. Hurley had started.

Mayo may well beat Roscommon next but their best chance of catching Kerry cold was in quarter final IMO.

I don't think Rochford and co helped things with having Mayo finish that game with a weaker team and in the end damn lucky to win. Corks chances weren't helped by losing 4 important players to injury. The millage on the clock is showing in the legs of Higgins,S O Shea and Boyle.

Cillian was on song, AOS was once again giving a big F you to the rest of the country, Moran got 4 from play, 5 of the starting 6 forwards scored, and all did from play.

As the game was unfolding I was wondering what the media narrative would be like in the sense that Mayo would be compared to Kerry because they both played Cork.

Kerry were 4 up at HT, Mayo were 3 up.

Kerry won by 11, Mayo were 7 up at one point and cruising.

Of the 21 they scored in normal time, 18 we're from play, that's the sort of stuff that people gush on about Kerry doing.

Cork created as many if not more goal chances v Kerry as they did v Mayo.

Cork hit the side netting and had one cleared off the line I think v Kerry

The only problem is that two went in v Mayo and for all their good work up front they found themselves in a dog fight.

I'm not good at analysing defensive structures so I don't know why it happened but it will have to stop.

Mayo's meeting Kerry in the next round always required Donegal to win anyway and that as it turns out never happened, but after the effort put in yesterday, on a warm evening, facing the weaker of the QF opponents may be the best thing.

According to RTE he came on in the 63m and scored 2, from being at the game myself I can't remember how else he played, it's all a blur really.

Came on and was good. Plenty of intelligent runs and a couple of good scores.

I'm not sure he should start. Andy & Cillian inside, Aidan dipping in and out of the FF line is working well. It's good to know that Loftus is there to come on and be able to make and take a score. A massive addition.

Yeah parlance he did a lot of good things but squandered two excellent goal chances and took on that only fifty fifty scoring chance before the Cork equaliser. The ball should have been recycled.

He did and I think he played quite well. What loftus gives is a real danger when he gets on the ball by either having a go with a real eye for goal or laying off a ball that causes real danger. I would prefer to see him starting.

I think Rochford messed around with the changes too much and too early. This lead to Cork coming back. Barrett going off was one of the real reasons for the goals coming imo. Caff is a problem as well but that's understandable with his injury but it needs to be sorted otherwise we will give away easy scores.

The qualifiers are always a dog fight and its all about getting through. That's done now and we hit CP. The performances will improve once we hit there.

Whats the crack with Boland? is he gone - I heard he played for his club the night before but that could be sh1t.

Agree with that. Lots of pressure coming on in a game like that but he played well, won his own ball when it went into him and he looked calm and confident kicking his two scores. A good display I thought.

Big shout to Doherty today too; he was very good I thought; winning ball and laying it off/running at the defence, and then being an absolute haunt when cork were coming forward themselves. He turned over a few balls on his own out of pure work rate and aggression in the tackle.

Was also the best I've seen Cillian play for a while now; great to see it. Think he kicked 5 from play also.

Ah my best buddy I was a wondering where I'd get a copy of the game as I'm reliant on the auld slygo

but haven't the facility to record.All my dodgy boxes not longer facilitate the recording of SKY.

One problem i have with mayo, and i think its a big seperator between mayo and dublin kerry tyrone.
They take the foot off the gas. It was very noticable in tbe hammering mayo gave galway a few years ago.
They had galway in bits, and took their foot off and eased up near the end.

If that was kerry v cork and kerry were that much in front, i dont think they would ease up. Theyd make sure to bury their neighbours. No mercy.

Same with Tyrone against any of their rivals up in ulster. They would bury them up to the last minute.

How many times have we gone 4 or 5 or 6 points ahead and then eased up only to be pegged back and in some cases beaten.

Its a recurring theme and until its addressed I cant see us going anywhere.

In fact, as much i hate writing this i think the rossies are going to beat us the next day out.
