Thanks for the fast replies folks. My dog has been sick for a while and they havent been able to prove he has what they think he has. Got a call the other day to say a test finally came back with proof. The operation to fix it either works and hes fine or it doesn't and goes on the table. I know its probably seen as unprofessional to even try to take sick leave for something like this but I woke up this morning and can't get the thought of whats to come on Thursday out of my head. Sitting in work at the moment, can't focus on what I'm doing, chest is heavy and its a little hard to breath. Don't know if being at home would be better or worse. Anyway, I'm rambling. There can be a significant difference between personal stress and work related stress so careful on the wording if you're divulging the reason. If work isn't the source of the stress, the company is well within their rights to have an independent medical professional assess the individual (and can do regardless after a certain period)

There shouldn't be an issue with a doctor providing a note for leave to deal with genuine personal stress. They may refer the person to a mental health professional but can freely sign you off themselves.

Go to your GP
Tell your GP the issue
The GP, if they think it's appropriate, will write a note that says something like "DGRulz is unfit for work from <this date> to <that date>"

The doc should just be able to provide the cert. Technically an employer has no right to know why an employee is being certified sick for the most part. That's between the employee and their doctor. As long as the doc is willing to certify the absence there's not much else to worry about really unless the absence is going to be a lengthy one. In which case the employer may refer the employee to a doctor of their choosing who will confirm for them the validity of the original cert. But unless there's a real need for an employer to know why an employee is sick they don't need to know the details and shouldn't even ask.

Yep, go to your GP and explain. Under data protection they can just put down "unwell" if you don't want your employer to know the reason behind your illness.

They weren't bad. Got sucker punched early on but kept in it when lesser teams would have lost by 15 points. Some of their scores were top quality and racked up 1-17 against the best team in the country. Dublin have weaknesses and are vulnerable; Fenton doesn't look as good as he has done in the past and they look exposed in the half backs defensively.

I would have made Kildare solid favourites but I see they're going to be without Eoin Doyle and Kevin Feely who was fantastic yesterday.
