Just looking for some advice,rep called to my house telling me my house was now able to receive FTTH and it was going live on 2nd Aug.
My query is I have never had a land line before,my house was built in 2006 and am not sure if any line was put into my house from the road,There is a small cabinet on the side of my house with a small white wire in it but I don't think there is a cable from eir going into it.
Just wondering how would they connect me, any advice would be appreciated.

It wasn't the exchange date because my neighbour up the road is on the same exchange but wasn't able to order...my house was planned to be live on May 31st and it has been marked as live on the ftth map for a long time now.

There's one small section on my road which is not connected up as the cable needs to go underground apparently, don't see how its a major job but they just aren't finishing it. They sent out an installer around 6th June only to find out it wasn't live. Haven't seen any work going on in the area since except some kn vans showing up trying to install it in other houses, then leave after finding out its not live..... I don't believe 6th August either at this stage. Hope it goes well for your customers

Should be definite? I got a flyer from Eir and was told live on 31st May. Then it was 9th July now 6th August...

your real speed on speedtest.net will be slightly lower but not by much.
You'll get about 144/29.

Unlike Siro and many providers in the UK, Eir sync their connections at exactly 150 so the overheads means you real speed is more like 144.

It's purely package based, not physical restriction. If you have Fibre to the home, you literally have a fibre connection to your door it does not degrade with distance from the exchange like traditional broadband through a copper line.

Depending on which retailer you go with will decide your speed as they will sell different packages.

Hi Guys a real newbie question.

I am on the 'yellow line' for FTTH roll out about 500m from the cabinet, my house/eircode confirm as being on the FTTH scheme for later half of this year. My question relates to speeds. I realise that speeds are "up to" 1000Mb/s but range on the roll out page now indicates speeds between 30mb/s to 1000Mb/s which is a very wide range.

What are the factors that affect speeds on FTTH, are these price restrictions or actual physical infrastructure limitations? 970Mb/s is a hell of a range/difference. For example I didn't think distance from the cabinet was relevant for FTTH. Any info/insight welcome.

Yes you wait for the NBP if you are not in eir's commercial roll out.

Hi I hope someone can help. I live in lixnaw kerry. Our estate was originally in the first phase of rollout but when it went live we could only get 13 mbps as we were on the edge of the village. Now all the surrounding area is getting FTTC and our estate and the one across the road has been bumped down to the NBP. There are literally 50 houses in a few mile radius that can't get fibre. We seem to be falling between both and getting neither. I'd appreciate any help. I've emailed opener and was told basically you have to wait for NBP thanks

I'm in same situation as you - Openeir map + email say October, commerical sites says live now, splice box and cabling in place. Would be interested to know how you fare?

Bad move. Never order until its confirmed live, they done the same with me. I ordered 2 months and given live date of 31st May. Now they have me in a contract they just pushed the live date back another month yet again, and trying to charge me every month. Told 31st May when ordering, then 9th July, now 8th August. Sales reps will lie just to get a sale, even had one show up to my door after they failed to meet the first live date and they lied to me face saying it is live right now.

DONT DO IT. See my thread. They are going to try to scam you. Only order once its confirmed LIVE not a forecast date. They give false dates to get you to order and real installation could be months ahead. And they will try take your money in the meantime like ruthless scammers.

I sent an email to the Openeir email address and was told that FTTH should be available in October. However, the commercial website is telling me that FTTH is available at my location now, and a neighbour of mine had a rep call to him and tell him the same thing.

In the Canon Lee Park area. It looked like alot of people were ordering it. I was also talking to two openair lads two weeks and they said all the fibre cable was laid and all they were doing now was testing the cables to make sure they were installed ok. They had what looked like a splice box in a manhoile, so hopefully there won't be too much longer to wait to finally having broadband

Just signed up yesterday in co.waterford,going live on 02/08, hopefully it will do the business.Signed up for 55 euro a month package for 12 months,am I right to assume it will go up next year.

Eir BB salesman called to door. He cannot sell me a BB package because I am an existing Eir customer.
