I think it just means "Line" as in the fibre cable will be passing through the relevant ducts and up the poles that are marked. Some people reported seeing EL meaning End of Line in some places.

I'm on the unlimited business package so I don't have a limit. I'm using over 2TB per month and plan to increase that quite a bit now that I can do so many things with the FFTH. I plan to record my 12 CCTV cameras to the cloud and host my own websites, that's why I went with the business plan.
Two of my neighbours told me they had received usage warnings within days of getting the broadband installed, so there is obviously an issue if loads of people have gaming consoles and 4K streaming, (like me). These two neighbours are not technical people, so I was very surprised they used so much.

I may be wrong, but I think Sky have unlimited BB and they will have an IP-only package available soon, no dish required. We use Sky here because I love the Sky Q boxes and the fantastic 4K programs. I love watching the Formula 1 in 4K, it's great.
Netflix 4K needs about 25Mbps.

Let's be honest here, do we need 1,000Meg broadband? I don't, but it's just so great to be able to say that I have it. For years my friends were slagging me over my slow "Country Bumkin" broadband, now it's the other way around. I love it!

The GPON unit is a huaweiEcholife HG8010H.
The router is the standard F2000 using the WAN port.
When I'm doing an Ookla speed test I have to use The IPTelecom server in Dublin as none of the others I've tried are fast enough, (they can't handle my speeds, which makes me smile, they are the bottleneck now). I also changed the NIC in my PC for a faster Intel PCI express. All of these things gave me a little faster speed, but I haven't hit the 1,000 mark yet!

I also have 2 X Ubiquiti UniFi AC Pro APs in the attic, I'm getting about 450Mbps from them, but had to increase the channel width to 80Megs, which shortens their range.

Feck, I wrote a detailed reply but Forums glitched! I'm not doing it all again
I don't think I gave my VAT number, just my business name.

It's just over €100 pm, genuinely unlimited BB and phone calls. It's cheaper than what I used to pay three different companies for phone/broadband/4G SIM in case my main BB went down.
(Still expensive enough, but a brilliant service which has been a big boost for my business).

ok i finally got FTTH installed today by KN, long stories this is 4th install.. anyway i dont have a working connection, KN left saying its digiwebs side as they were getting proper connection results of 150mb past the ONT.
my power/dsl light on fritz router is flashing, ive rplaced the ethernet cable from lan1 port on fritz to the ont ,still flashing
i cant seem to log into fritzboz using any of the lan ports wired upto my laptop but can access it wirelessy
i have a belkin n600 cable router could i try that and what would the settings be for logging into digiweb ie username if i use pppoe

Are Digiweb supplying an xDSL only unit for FTTH customers? Do you not have a WAN port?

they sent me a fritz 7360 with no instructions that cover setting it up with FTTH but on there website with only instructions for the FTTH it just says connect it to lan1 port as thats aslo a wan port according to the fritz spec on fritz site , they said they would change the router over to a 7560 as the 7360 only has 2 gbits ports other 2 are 10/100 and 1 in taken up by wan

Good news. A big crew arrived outside my house (Oldtown North county Dublin) this morning to do prep work for blowing the fibre through the ducts. Other crews are about a mile or two away, doing the actual blowing and you can see the fibre already hanging from poles.

This may have already been posted but any router that can have a VLAN set on the WAN port (VLAN 10 in Eir's case) can be used with FTTH. I have an EdgeRouter X SFP running mine right now, will be trying out my MikroTik in a little bit and pfSense after that.

Have the 150mb package but getting near 300, it will settle after a few days the KN guy said as OpenEir will up and down the traffic to test backend.

Leaving the old crappy DSL behind

I ordered FTTH bundle with tv and phone a few weeks ago after being told it was live. It actually wasn't live so they just activated the phone line and was told I wouldn't be charged until the broadband was eventually installed.

Just got a bill today for landline only which is more expensive than the broadband/tv/phone line combined, phoned up Eir and they're telling me this is right and I got to pay more for less because they sold me something which was not ready to be installed. What a joke.

Make a Data protection request for a record of the call. Fee is €6.35 to request as far as I know. Specifically request a transcript of the recording. Also, post on their talk to forum.

Openeir, own the fibre network.

Eir rent that fibre network from openeir and sell it to you.
Digiweb rent that fibre network from openeir and sell it to you.
Pure rent that fibre network from openeir and sell it to you.
number of other suppliers rent that fibre network from openeir and sell it to you.

Unless you are on the SIRO network if you are on FTTH you are on the open eir network.

I think this is the first Digiweb speedtest we've seen on the Open Eir Network? Also your speeds seem to be almost bang on 300 down and 30 up, do Digiweb have slightly different speed profiles than Eir?

Because on Eir the 300 max's out at 286-290megs due to the overheads.
