Because you have to get a fighter out of retirement to fight him, and he has no real reason to either. Few hundred million in the bank but he wants more. If boxing as a sport wanted to maintain the up it is currently on, then this should be avoided.

This is my opinion of course, from a purest point I would prefer this not to happen. Let McGregor have MMA, but I guess he wants the boxing money. Simple as.

To me, you put the best fighter in MMA in the ring to get schooled, I would see it as degrading the sport as a whole. One of the reasons why MMA is as big today is because of McGregor.

Hes not a typical punch drunk boxer, sure his reflexs will be slower and not as fast but hes that far ahead it wont matter, he didnt get out shape too bad in the time off.

Im 40 and feel as strong and fit as i was when i was 30, mayweather is a million times fitter and well maintained then me im sure his age wont be a factor the only thing would maybe it might effect his speed and reactions slightly,his power or stamina i dont think would be effected

Would say 47-49. But McG's odds might improve with each passing round, youth usually means less muscle fatigue, better stamina and faster reflexes.

Would also depend on approach taken, both could go very defensive rather than the offensive. Fitness, and specifically energy recovery rate after each bell really depends on the individual.

Statistically the most popular bet is FM R6,7,or 9 (aside from points win).
R11 or 12 for FM are the worst for him.

Was it embarrassing for boxing when Toney was disposed off with ease? No. He had no MMA exp.

Same thing when a UFC fighter loses in a grappling match to a BJJ black belt. Happens all the time, nothing wrong with losing to a specialist

I will give McGregor his dues on overall fitness and conditioning (although that does not necessarily prove that his state is optimum for boxing). He is an athlete.

Regardless, his condition is of no use if he can't hit anything and can't block or move what is coming at him. As I think that I might have said on here before - his conditioning would give him a decent stab at the likes of the intermediates although a naturally talented kid would probably beat him. You can talk about "amateur vs pro" fight but this is going to be a fast light tapping in and out round or two of prancing about. It's not going to be a typical grinding pro-style bout.

I don't think a 28 year old McGregor even lays a glove on a 55 year old Mayweather if he is "55 year old fit". Whatever money he gets, none of it will be from me :-)

Fair play to him for getting the money though. Assuming he keeps his hands up and doesn't get hurt!
Maybe the best way I can put it is that lack of conditioning would hurt McGregor. Well at least in the sense that he would tire easier if he wasn't fit........although it might be better if he was put out of his misery sooner rather than later. Superb conditioning doesn't necessarily mean that he'll hit anything other than fresh air.

I mean, how much credibility would it add to the sport if Golovkin or Joshua announced their next fight as being against someone who had won a couple of bouts in the Dublin boys leagues back in the day . How about Lomachenko vs Dublin novices 2007 winner?
