Ok I'm pretty new here but I havent been able to find a thread on this topic

Are any of you here involved in the Mens Rights or Masculinist Movements? Is there any organised male orientated rights associations in Ireland except for Fathers Rights?

The last line in your post is a strange point. The article says there are half a million rapes in SA per year. Very few make it to the UK news at all but his one did, and you're pointing out that this article was 'down the pecking order'. Imagine if all 500,000 South African rapes were reported up the pecking order.

Folks, the point of this was the rape of a man by women. Which to some isn't possible. It doesn't get much discussion or mention. Hence I brought it up in the Mens Right thread.

And the fact that it was published in the UK shows that it was getting more attention to than the more common forms of rape. You seemed to be saying that it didn't get enough attention. This didn't happen in the UK and yet got notice in the UK press. That it was highlighted would be a good thing. It seems bizarre to complain about that. How much farther up the headlines should it have been? Reminder, we are talking about a rape that happened in another country, one rape of hundreds of thousands in that country every year. Men as rape victims certainly needs more attention and that seems to be why this story was reported in the UK but it's not going to be front page news, especially as a rape perpetrated on a woman in SA wouldn't get any kind of headline at all in the UK press.

Garda? took action to protect a man who was wrongly identified as a sex offender on social media.

Shortly after the posting, there was an altercation between locals and the man. There is no suggestion that the man had done anything wrong.

I'm sure its getting noticed because it's unexpected to hear about a male being raped by a group of females. On the other hand our society is desensitized to the statistics of male on female rape or male on male for that matter. There's an advantage to a male victim in that his clothing or consumption of alcohol is not questioned, however there is a disadvantage in that it's often not taken seriously or laughed at if a male is raped by a female.

There are quite a few incidents of female teachers having sex with very young guys (16 and under) in the news lately. That's statutory rape.

the abuse of men by women is well documented, its largely ignored because its a taboo to say a warm nurturing woman the image of empathy and compassion can abuse

, I believe it to be an inherent part of us to see women as caring, warm, compassionate and empathic, that image is so strong, that to say women are capable of being dark wounded souls who are capable of killing children, abusing children,or abusers towards men is too much of overload of darkness for us to believe and discuss,

it's not the only reason why it's happening or not disscussed
one part of a jigsaw where I believe where some women fail is saying it happens so little it doesn't matter or it happens to more women,in my view it brings back feminism to the start, I often wonder how many male children get impacted by negative viewpoints towards men ,isn't that abuse? to say if you get hurt sexually, psychically by a woman you won't be believed?

we are carrying the problem forward by not addressing the issue, we are teaching all children that fear is a great place to be stuck, that there is no healing and being a victim is the right way to address healing and moving forward

I saw a tweet on one of these (I forgot to save it) where somebody asked why was it trending and suggested that Twitter was promoting it above other hashtags.

I know Twitter was concerned that some women were getting trolled and similar on Twitter so put resources into allowing people make complaints and in general, seem concerned about its image and that women weren't being protected enough. So it seems plausible to me that somebody in Twitter might be placing certain hashtags as trends in a somewhat artificial manner. But I have no idea whether this is a 1% chance or (say) a 40% chance.

There's a real chauvinism inside feminism isn't there? Imagine men saying things like "fathers are the future of parenting" or "mothers are obsolete" etc... It's funny (as in peculiar not 'haha') how being viewed as different to men when it's negative is sexism but being viewed different when it's a positive is a good thing.

Oh and the idea that women care more about people sounds a lot like saying women are nurturing doesn't it? isn't that what the awful white male patriarchy created to make sure women looked after children, the elderly and sick? A person is either against these gender roles and blanket generalizations or they're not. This is sort of like what the old feminist movements said they were against.

In my experience of having tests in the hospital recently any time I have encountered a male nurse they have been brilliant. Some of the women nurses are great too but I have met a few bad ones. I never met one male nurse with a bad attitude.

Leaders of the Australian public service will today be told to "hit pause" on blind recruitment trials, which many believed would increase the number of women in senior positions.

The trial found assigning a male name to a candidate made them 3.2 per cent less likely to get a job interview.

Adding a woman's name to a CV made the candidate 2.9 per cent more likely to get a foot in the door.

I thought this was interesting. When it was found that blinded selection helped men it was suggested that the scheme be stopped.
