It's a film that really absolutely nails it in patches, is utterly frustrating in others and doesn't have the most satisfying of endings. I really couldn't tell if I rated it or not when I left. One of those ones where it has so much right, yet so much wrong at the same time.

irishbucsfan wrote: » I'm not sure I'll go see that one. There's two coming out this weekend that I want to see, Colossal and Guy Ritchie's take on King Arthur (which I believe is called King Geezer). The best action film I saw this year was Kong. Great stuff.

I might watch a few other bits and pieces here and there, but nothing else would see me turn the TV on specifically for it. You could spend your life in front of the TV for all we have access to these days. That thought isn't a nice one to me.

Well worth a watch Also saw Guardian of Galaxy - some great comedic lines and while the plot was MEH you didn't mind as the characters are brilliant Haven't watched any trailers for it but I'm looking forward to new Planet of the Apes

Personally there are some changes:The implication that the Alien isn't some ancient perfect killing machine and was in fact crafted by David and also the way Billy Cruddup hatches almost instantly and isn't incubated for any seeming length of time and the guy who hatches on the ship had the facehugger on for 5 seconds And all of the above are aspects I don't actually like and in my opinion detract from previous entries. Also some of the characters (as in all horror films) do very silly things. I don't even know if I like it more than Prometheus. Prometheus at least strives to do something interesting. Ultimately the two films combined are nearly there in terms of prequels but not quite clicking. Like finishing a nice meal where your still hungry afterwards.
molloyjh wrote: » Yeah those 2 things really annoyed me too. There were other bits that were too "cheap horror film" about them. I definitely thought it was better than Prometheus. It had a number of moments in it where I thought "yes, they nailed that". I do think that sometimes those in the movie industry need to learn that not everything needs to be explained. It's okay for us not to really know where the Aliens came from. The black goo was bad enough, but I could have lived with that. They just needed to leave that bit alone. Plus, Shaw and now Daniels are two protagonists who have gone through hell only to be killed off (we have to assume Daniels isn't going to make it). What's the point in telling their story at all so? Especially when their ultimate fate is off-screen .

Just let me fcuking talk to someone you clowns.
