The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 3.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.

Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.

Watching the face offs for tomorrow's fights made me think ; if Conor doesn't get to turn up with the two belts (as he doesn't cos clearly Aldo is the rightful featherweight champion) at his next UFC face off he missses that historical trick.
I can see why he wants to break away if they decided to Take that honour off him

He won the fw cw belt then he won the last cw belt
Then he was offered UFC so he did what was nessicary to replicate that in UFC

This time last year I would have said for sure Conor is the deserving champion he knocked Aldo dead. In saying that Conor can't stay champion forever if he isn't defending the belt. Aldo fought the No. 1 contender in Frankie and won easily..... Aldo is the deserving champ at this moment in time.

As someone who liked Aldo before he fought Conor and still do I am excited about Aldo as FW champion

I was interested on how he would come back after loss to Conor and how he would do v Frankie and he got through that test. I am very interested to see what he does v Holloway also

Holloway if he can beat Aldo and go on a bit of a winning streak has potential to be a star and has Hawaii behind him. Conor beat Holloway but he didn't finish him and Holloway got injured in that fight (I know Conor did also). I'd love to see a rematch some day but I can't see it ever happening, I'd say Conor has a few fights left and they will be mostly super fights (in my opinion).

You are correct in all of this. He hasn't fight in the FW division in 18 months, whilst healthy, so has appropriately been stripped of the belt.

He has won UFC titles at two weights. He is not a title holder in two divisions. What aren't you seeing that I'm seeing?

That's utterly daft saying he's the lineal champion. He clearly had no intention of ever fighting at 145 again. Is Rocky Marciano the lineal heavyweight champion? By your logic, Mayweather is the lineal champion in about five different weight classes.

If Aldo never won the belt, and was therefore illegitimate, what does that do to your logic for McGregor being a double champion given it was Aldo he beat for it?!

I think it's you who's struggling to comprehend things. Since beating Aldo, McGregor has fought three times above the 145 division in 18 months while perfectly healthy. He has no intention of going back to 145 and is done with the division. He's gone from the rankings at 145 and any divisional conversation. He's not the lineal champ.

Aldo right now is not actually the undisputed champion with Max having a (bull**** v pettis) title, I class that fight between max as the fight for the Vacant belt neither of their interims mean anything.

It was 11 months from when he won till when he was stripped so if Aldo doesn't fight Holloway in UFC 212 (which is being billed as champion x champion it seems) should he be stripped ?

Jones i suppose is a bit more straight forward (fight wise) hasnt lost it and beat the man holding it.

Mcgregor leaving the division and fighting at two different weights with what looks like no intention of returning means he has no claim to a belt he never looks like defending.

Lineal champs is a seperate thing imo.

I would like to see a lineal line of ufc belts but would strikforce wec belts be inccluded in that?

thats right it was poirier, i was thinkin that holloway was very new at the time to be the shooto champ

Lineal titles are completely separate

They aren't bound by promotions. And they go back to the first time two top contenders contested a weight. Mostly they started in Japan and at times ended up in WEC or Strikeforce (Fedor was lineal champ forever). But eventually they all gravitated towards the UFC belts.

DC never beat Jones. Hence he's not lineal champ.

At certain times, the incumbant champ will retire or vacate a division. That can't be helped. If McGregor never goes back to 145, his lineal reign will end.

FWIW, Aldo v Frankie was before McGregor was stripped. So if Conor never returns to 145, the next lineal champ will be the winner at UFC212
