I seriously think, at this stage, Ireland has a very slim chance of winning in the foreseeable future. We just don't select good acts/songs these days. FFS we had Dustin as our entry a few years back.

The Eurovision has changed fundamentally since our glory days in the 90s We just don't cut the mustard anymore.

I noticed in the last few years its mainly Eastern European acts who win the contest, they're all just voting for each other. I agree with everyone else get rid of that old You're a star panel and anything to do with Simon Cowel, make something fresh and original with some of the props from Electric Picnic or Body & Soul festival. RTE need to be shown a lack of confidence by the young viewers, they need to be closed down and scrapped.

I love the Eurovision but i won't get to see it tonight

I have it set to record but it won't be the same as watching it live. Have an each way bet on Norway and Bulgaria. There's a chance of me winning something on the Bulgaria bet but slim chance with Norway. I just bet on it because I love the song!

It does, but it thsoe exact same people that holiday here and go to the pubs and listen to traditional music.

The Corrs, De Danann, Chris De Burgh, Enya, The Kelly Family are all huge in Europe. Yet we send a westlife reject song with a second rate singer.

Its not about the song or the singer. Its about the whole package. Key changes, fireworks, choreography, stand out stage show, you name it. Don't ask me how the other countries do it, particularly the supposedly poorer eastern European countries, but they produce catchy songs, good singers and fantastic stage shows year in year out.

The talent pool is woefully shallow in Ireland, largely because if you aren't related or friends with someone in RTE you can forget about competing in something like this.

Lets face it, Eurovision is no more than a junket for a few people in RTE at this stage, and they are not going to let go of that. Laughing stock it will be for the foreseeable future.

Do we need something big such as macnas style performance? It need to be theatrical and spectacular. Also rather than one of Louis boys, we need a genuine band that has put the work in.

I think RD was great 20 years ago but we need to get over it now. Like we did a jig one time over twenty years ago and we can't get over it since. That's our problem, IMO, we succeed in something a few times and we cling on to it for dear life and don't move with the times.

Ireland need to take off these rose tinted specs and wake the fcuk up. We are a laughing stock. I guarantee you if we were ever to host we'd do some Riverdance crap again. We need to move on. Who on earth thought this song was a good idea? It's literally one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life. We need to move with the times and stop with the retrospective romantic perspective because it is not working. The contest isn't the problem, we are.

I have a feeling it's down to a few dinosaurs and RTE, On the late late show they were giving the impression that johnny logan is going to save the day next year. That just shows they are not "getting it".
