Tbh, I didn't realise I has used so much last month when I seen it. I guess it must just be Xbox/Steam game updates as well as streaming 4k Netflix.

Perfect example of how easy it is to go over 1TB. Eir state they would charge you €50 for this each month (I believe)

I reckon if they went fully unlimited it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference to their costs as some people would use more than 1tb per month, but most wouldn't and I would probably end up just using whatever I need per month, some months using less than on a fup plan. Im sure there is others with FTTH who will use up that 1tb each and every month because we are 'paying' for that 1tb per month and it gets resets each month.

SIRO is a wholesaler. Usage limits are set by retailers.

at least now they know that we'd be interested in a truly unlimited plan, it would be in their interest to have one as well, it would certainly set them apart from Siro which is also limited to 1tb per month.

The reps have sent my query's about the FUP off for further investigating.
Hopefully it will be good news. It would be a game changer to have even one of the FTTH packages as truly unlimited. A FTTH connection with proper unrestricted data usage is the holy grail, the limited 1tb FUP definitely takes some of the good away.

It's something Eir should really market, if true, because they would be the only provider to offer truly unlimited FTTH, free installation as well as free access to the BT Sports pack included on Eir and Sky platforms. Their Network and ping response times is also incredible and something I'd like to stay with.

if it turns out to be true that the 1000 plan is now truly unlimited while the 150 and 300 are still limited, I will upgrade instantly.

The reason for this is I don't like to be restricted to usage limits, if I have a heavy month, it would be good to know that I won't be charged anything extra and also having a 1tb data allowance makes me want to use every bit of it up because it's there. If there was no usage policy I would probably end up going under 1000 some months and wouldn't feel like I'm missing out.

If Eir make the 1000 unlimited that's an extra 10-20 euros from some people, it's a privilege worth paying for.

"absolutely no usage limits" sounds very strong, but if you follow the links from the bundles to the T&Cs you arrive at the old document which names the packages with the "extreme" name and it mentions the 1TB limit. So, maybe the T&C doc has to be updated.

Just be careful they don't start billing from the date modem is posted. That's what happened to me with FTTC.

So after 2 weeks of all the equipment wired up in my house, and nearly a week since my dsl was cut off I'm officially a "failed installation" and have to wait up to 3 days for engineer. Have spent well over 3 hours on the phone getting bounced/cut off/transferred by eir. So once it's sorted, and after my minimum contract is up, I'll be looking to leave ASAP.

Quick question on modem location. My house is about 1700 sq feet. Would the hallway be adequate enough to have access throughout the house (upstairs and downstairs)? Currently I have my 4G modem upstairs in the back bedroom because the vodafone antenna is in line of sight from that window. Would I better off putting the modem up on the top landing? I use internet throughout the house.
