Have spent well over 3 hours on the phone getting bounced/cut off/transferred by eir. So once it's sorted, and after my minimum contract is up, I'll be looking to leave ASAP.

Just looking at the bundles The 35 euro bundle at 150mbit says: "eir Fibre to the Home unlimited up to 150Mb Unlimited Fibre to the Home broadband" The 55 euro bundle says: "eir Fibre to the Home unlimited up to 1,000Mb Unlimited Fibre to the Home broadband. Ireland's fastest broadband with unlimited usage" What could the difference between the two packages be? "Unlimited" has to be the most abused word in the English language at this stage.
Gonzo wrote: » I've just asked again on the Eir forum, the document that I was linked contains no information about the fair usage policy or excess charges. Perhaps it has gone truly unlimited and the reps do not know of this change. I'm fairly certain I read that document before and it contained the FUP information.
plodder wrote: » Otherwise you'd have to ask if "absolutely no usage limits" means "usage limits", then how would you describe a product with no usage limits? "Absolutely no usage limits, at all, at all. No we really mean it! We're serious this time! Please believe us!" :pac:

Houses about 500m away have got splitter boxes on poles C/W with cable looped around the boxes. outside a number of houses. The house next door (ie 200m) has nothing and between that house and mine the line goes underground. I have put my eircode into the openeir checker and I get the NBP message saying that my are marked in orange will be serviced by NBP. Once of the poles down the road has the initials DPEL sprayed in yellow. What is this ?

Peppa Cig wrote: » Is Vodafone truly unlimited then ? Or are you getting charged extra for that? That's 1.5TB right..... How are you clocking that up?
Gonzo wrote: » at least now they know that we'd be interested in a truly unlimited plan, it would be in their interest to have one as well, it would certainly set them apart from Siro which is also limited to 1tb per month. I reckon if they went fully unlimited it wouldn't make a whole lot of difference to their costs as some people would use more than 1tb per month, but most wouldn't and I would probably end up just using whatever I need per month, some months using less than on a fup plan. Im sure there is others with FTTH who will use up that 1tb each and every month because we are 'paying' for that 1tb per month and it gets resets each month.
MiskyBoyy wrote: » Yep, truely unlimited it appears. I've only gone over 1TB maybe once or twice before. Nope, my bill was 45 as usual! Yeah 1.5TB Tbh, I didn't realise I has used so much last month when I seen it. I guess it must just be Xbox/Steam game updates as well as streaming 4k Netflix.
Peppa Cig wrote: » Perfect example of how easy it is to go over 1TB. Eir state they would charge you €50 for this each month (I believe)
