Thought I'd update the OP with links and stuff for anyone who stumbles across this.

The former Off the Ball hosts have partnered with The Irish Times to do a series of weekly podcasts. They go online each Tuesday and cover a variety of sports, with a number of contributors including Sid Lowe, Richie Sadlier, Gerry Thornley and Shane Horgan.

The website went live this morning which had a link to the patreon page. They had not advertised the patreon before - those 9 people who registered over the weekend were ahead of the curve. As seems to be the tone on this thread over the last few weeks plenty of sniping and negativity.

Over 1000 in first few hours is very promising. People will have between now and Thursday before the first paid show is out so it looks as if they are going to do very well.

Trying to sign up there but it's only giving me the option of paying in dollars. I thought I'd just do that but then with vat it's like 7 dollars so I'm wondering is that what everyone else paid?

It's just under 7 dollars iirc. But what you are seeing is correct.

Possibly 'cos they're keeping up with responding to queries about the new service (registration issues, etc) on social media & what-not.
Or else Ken Early is in doodling overdrive on caricatures aplenty for the new members :D

Might be that they are in too emotional a state to concentrate, this is going very well for them i would think. They are getting well over 3 pledges a minute since they opened for business at 8am.

To give an idea of scale The Spanish football podcast which is a good pod Sid Lowe runs has 259 pledges and has been going for a year at least. Granted second captains would have much bigger overheads (the office on fitzwilliam being the main one) but they make 10k and they are laughing

Pffft, should be well over that by 11. I expect a big enough surge when they release their first Podcast today. No idea what number they will finish on though.
