And, no, I would not be in a "bracket" that considers all things Nintendo to be perfect, and I've spent more time on non-Nintendo games in the last 25 years.
But, Nintendo have always brought something interesting to the table, and other companies have taken those steps and ran with it, and good luck to them.

Touchscreens and analogue controllers, not to mention force feedback to name three.

You have a real issue with big budget multi release franchises? Cash ins? You'l need to take a closer look at your beloved Nintendo then. Cough *amiibo* cough *endless mario tie ins* cough.

You aren't reading my posts properly.
I have no issue with multiplatform releases.
My games collection is full of games that appeared on multiple platforms, from the Arkham titles to Bioshock, from the Souls games to the recent Doom reboot.
I don't even have an issue with people who only buy a couple of games a year and they are always from the handful of annual releases from Ubi or EA or Activision.
I was making the point that the boxes that play those games are only nominally different from each other and the sense of character, that certain something interesting has been leeched from both the PS and the XB brands over the years.
Nintendo at least try something different.

Personally I'd like rather see all 3 companies succeed and embrace the choice rather than making childish accusations and slants toward your less loved consoles.

I'd love to see all three manufacturers, four if you include PC as a platform, become successful. There is surely the breadth in the market for everyone to make lots of sales.
Certainly if Nintendo can successfully translate older, previously DS owning people onto their new console it will make the Switch a success, but Nintendo need to deepen the available pool of games for the system, both in terms of first party and third party, though early adopters like myself will buy it regardless.
The most people to own a PS3 didn't buy into the format in the first year, possibly not even the second. So the year to be watching Switch sales will really be Xmas 2018, but Nintendo would do well to have the software library attractive to the average punter by then, not just to the existing demo that buys their stuff.

The amount of brilliance on PlayStation alone in the past few generations puts Nintendo to shame.

Eh, no, not really.
Don't get me wrong.
The PS2 was incredible, and when the PS3 got it's thumb out it was a super platform for great titles, with PS+ a fantastic idea.
The PS4 is getting there, but the number of Sony exclusives worth having is still very small compared to the numbers on the PS3, and even then the PS2 had that console well licked.
The poor Xbox1 simply isn't in the race at all.
But, the Wii had some simply stellar titles for which the PS3 had no real answer, Mario Galaxy and it's sequel, as well as Metroid Prime Trilogy are best in their generation.
The WiiU has had more excellent exclusives than the PS4 and XB1 combined.
So, Playstation is important, I play a lot of it, but it hasn't really performed at all as consistently as you think, certainly it and the XB1 fizzled out at the last E3 with a poor showing indeed.

Probably also helped they had a concept that didn't need a "now, you just have to..." prefix to be understood and a pack-in that nailed home the fact.

I think it's perhaps when anyone disagrees with you, it's the 'take off the blinkers....fanboy....farce...shallow minded.....etc. Just not my type of arguments really, especially on a video games forum, hopefully it won't go the way of some like the soccer forum, after hours etc. But no problem at all with your opinions, opposite or not.

The motion controls that Sony brought out subsequently were as popular as Cholera, and that console instead made a lot of money by releasing with a pack in that made the experience of using the Wii transparent.
You weren't playing Nintendo, or playing a Wii, you were playing tennis or bowling or playing golf.
People didn't become intimidated by a controller with multiple buttons on every surface, they didn't have to learn which button combination was needed for this or that, at least with Wii Sports it was quite natural and this reinforced it's attractiveness for a whole class of people that never played videogames before.
It was unfortunate, and very troubling for third party developers, that Wii Sports was so good, it turned out that a lot of people never bought another game!

And the Kinect, and any motion related stuff on the Wii U for that matter. It was a gimmick and had its time. Which makes me worry why Nintendo seem to be trying a very similar gimmick with the switch (1-2 Switch)

Sligeach has some different opinions than I have but he's never been as aggressive, or even close tbh. If you read a lot of peoples posts who you are accusing there's been negative views towards Nintendo and some of the problems the Switch may have as well as positivity towards a new console that will be purchased.

Just read back since it was announced. We are "haters" which is allowed to be used when discussing posters but if someone mentioned fanboy then it's an instant ban.

Anyway the PS4 already has a better catalogue of independent games than the WII & wii-U combined.

I hope the Switch can break this.

That was a post from this morning, that you already took issue with this morning too.

I respect your opinion though I disagree with it.
I said as much in a reply to you.

You see, there is absolutely no problem with people posting here, including me, who disagree and debate on the Switch, the price, the handful of games, the prices of those games and so on, right up to and beyond taking time to ask the hard questions about Nintendo themselves and the way that they conduct business and their relationship with us the players.
The problem arises when people just don't seem to know how to engage in this without taking it all oh so personally.
It's a games machine for goodness sake.

There is a whole heap of regular posters here, many agree on many points but no two are alike.
There is a wide spectrum of opinion but, at the end of the day, who else would be posting here except people with a personal sense of investment in the Nintendo brand and the games and consoles they make.
So, no cliques, plenty who agree and disagree.
Plenty of opinions that change over time, as a result of experience.
And, above all else, a respect for each other.

And, I would consider my opinion informed, but no less worthy of reading than yours, but all posted opinions are open to debate, if you can't accept that then don't post here.

Sligeach is pretty awesome btw and a great contributer.
He/she knows exactly the response some of his posts are going to generate, but believes in the points there in, and is happy to debate and discuss, and Sligeach pretty much maintains an excellent number of threads here too.
So, I wouldn't go using that users experience to justify any other perceived aggro.

This has been going on for weeks now. Anything pointed at as a possible flaw in the Switch is automatically defended blindly by you guys. No launch lineup? Hey it happened before! No browser? Didn't want that anyway! 1-2 Switch laughable? Poor marketing and branding!

I've tried to skip over all the fighting in the thread of late but I have to callout the 'poor marketing and branding' accusation. I think the one thing that Nintendo has got spot on with the Switch so far has been marketing and branding.

The advertisements have all been very good, very slick and have gotten across exactly what the Switch is. Just go back and compare the early videos of them trying to explain the Wii U. The difference is night and day.

I was clearly referring to "1-2 Switch"

I'm hoping for some sort of information blitz in the coming weeks, with some detail on the various online features, Nintendo have screwed around with only moderate success online, here's hoping they dig deep, watch what Sony did with the PS4, and the example set by Microsoft with the 360.

I respectfully disagree, when articles like'' top 10 reasons not to get a switch'' and ''heres why you should cancel your switch order'' are posted on the dedicated platforms fourm, and the content in said articles is rubbish, how is it anything but clickbait journalism.

Hopefully. Very intrigued by this whole phone app thingy, and exactly how it's going to tie in with the online experience.
