Official Conor McGregor thread (part 3) *Updated Warning in 1st Post Re:Boxing match

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 3.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.

Most likely, without Ariel Helwani as the MC. Which would be a let down compared to the Manchester gig I would guess.

To be fair, I am way more of a MMA fan than I am boxing, I do like both though. Floyd is one of the best of all time, look at the mans record, all the names he has beaten. In a fight Conor would win hands down, In a boxing match...... I mean if you think it would even be close you must be delusional, Mayweather is the goat and is still in top condition, he never lets himself go and is always in shape.

You know what I would like to see Floyd v GGG and Conor v Diaz/Khabib.

I think one thing is worth noting here regarding this training footage.

In the run-up to Diaz 2, #TeamMcGregor put out an awful lot on social media. It was mostly Conor winging punches in the direction of Conor Wallace and him grappling with Dillon.

Then, on the night itself, he turned into Conor Anthony Aldo and it was leg-kicks for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I.e. I'd take any footage he puts out with a grain of salt. It's in his own interests to look pretty crap at boxing (even if that's his actual best boxing and he is, simply, crap).

The other relevant thing is this debate over whether Conor can win is a silly debate.

Victory is in getting the fight made. Nothing else is relevant. If he gets the fight made, he wins. It's obviously a massive bonus if he could make it any way competitive so there's the possibility of a rematch but it's a very tall order to be competitive against Floyd.

Also, If the fight goes ahead and Mayweather cannot get Conor out of there (and kind of early) then Mayweather has lost, and lost a lot of credibility; unless I am really underestimating Conor?

10 oz is hardly big. Most of that weight is the wrist. Floyd will be hitting a non boxer clean in the head and face. Will have more time and room and thought to connect. I am not sure some folks really appreciate the gulf in class, or the potential damage and dangers Conor faces if Floyd decides to treat this with full commitment.

FLoyd has a perfect professional boxing record. Belts in 8 weight classes. Unless conor goes in and kicks him in the face its not a fight

he's 170 when fighting at 155, he is closer to 190lb at welterweight

He'll absolutely insist on it being a 12 rounds fight, in the same way he insisted the Nate rematch be at 170lbs.

Make no mistake the one person who firmly believes McGregor can beat Mayweather is Conor himself. His self-belief is a real-thing. It's easy for us to call him delusional in this instance but he honestly believes he will beat Floyd in a boxing ring.

He won't want any excuses by signing to fight an 8-round fight or introducing any hybrid rules. He'll want full championship boxing conditions and rules. Even more so because if he can last the full 12 and look somewhat fresh down the stretch, it also benefits his Mac Life Fast scheme.

Mayweather will insist it is a full 12 round bout or no go. Mayweather will dictate the terms, or it will not happen. Floyd has operated one way for the last good number of years and he isn't going to change. Control is absolutely massive for him, it being his show is absolutely massive for him. He stresses he is the A side, always. His demands will be pandered to or it won't happen, Conor can publicly be as cocky and self assured as he wants. Talk all the good game that he wants, but everybody knows this will be Mayweathers show or it will be no show at all.

McGregor has to chase the fight, if he manages to get it sanctioned and agreed by all parties he will have done incredibly well, of course it doesn't matter that Mayweather will slap the head off him at will.

Will 12 rounds actually be an option considering it's not a championship fight?
