The PPT tunnel has been up and running for two working weeks now, but the turnstiles at Pearse (and presumably Tara St, Drumcondra and GCD) still don't process Tax Saver Heuston plus feeder. They only work in Connolly.

Irish Rail are saying they are hoping their IT people can sort it next week. In the meantime, people are tailgating or going in search of a staff member - which doesn't help if you're in a rush.

I think he means the old cattle sidings south of Fassaugh Avenue and east of Carnlough Road.

Well, two weeks down the line and I still can't find any way to extend my Tax saver PTP to Heuston to Drumcondra. Irish Rail have told me they have no solution for me. This, despite the fact that they had told me I could get a city centre add on.
They appear to be totally unprepared for this situation, which is puzzling, considering they had a long lead - in time. It's so frustrating.

I've ordered the add-on for next year's PTP with IE only confirming that the City centre extension was needed to cover the PPT services a few days before the order deadline. Close call.

Are you trying to update an existing PTP ticket? I they probably mean when you renew the Taxsaver.

If your referring to the old cabra quarry site I've heard theres strong interest in building a station there. Will be a while before it happens due to funding etc but a regular service through there will justify a station being constructed there.

It also looks like there might be space for a station at the very end of the clancy quay development. It wouldn't take much to add a pedestrian footbridge onto Conyngham Road too for access from there also.

South Faussagh Road is a complete BS place to put a station. Even though there is empty space it doesnt connect to anything in particular except Cabra

New platforms on curves are not allowed.

The only straight track has multiple bridges under the canal, Luas and Maynooth line all of which would need to be replaced.

And as for bridge replacement .... yep ... very probably or the line dropped etc no-one said it was a trivial build but anyone can come in with an objection .

The sheer value of the interconnection makes it hugely valuable.

It's preferable to be on straight track, but still allowed once radius is no less than 300m and it has nothing to do with the CRR, it's EU law.

Part of the reason is so Drivers have a clear view of the train as they pull away. As an example some poor girl fell under a train at Tara a few years ago as a train was pulling off. Girl survived but lost the lower half of her leg. Driver wouldnt know about what happened till control contacted him at connolly as once he starts moving hes blind to what happens afterwards.

Latest update from Irish Rail is for Newbridge passengers to request a P2P from Newbridge to Pearse when their Tax Saver is up for renewal, or cancel it and re-order. The P2P will still work from Heuston and on the feeder buses and Luas.

Sallins and beyond will be on short hops from January so it's only a problem from Newbridge.

You P2P to Heuston does not cover Drumcondra even though it's more expensive than the SHZ.

Have you asked taxsaver@irishrail.ie? You could also post a tweet to @TFIupdates - they will respond.

You may be able to cancel your P2P and get a Short Hop zone instead.

That part is fine and well known, but Irish Rail haven't been able to programme the barriers to realise that passengers with those tickets can pass. Rather than reprogramme the barriers, they're asking customers to get P2P tickets.

But as a kid growing up near Parkgate Street in the 90s Watching into the West and curious as to the tunnel that runs under the Wellington Monument, I had decided with a friend to see where it left us.

The exit was at the rear of the vet and shops at the top of Infirmary road close to the AGS Headquaters.It became a bit of cat and mouse dodging the trains and running without torches was even worse.

When I think back I say too myself..... Damn I was foolish and if I seen anyone doing it now I'd say the same

That's what they told me originally, but that ticket doesn't work. A weekly with the feeder does, but not an annual.

They said their IT were working on a fix, but as you can see in the Twitter link - they now say I need to cancel my new Heuston plus feeder and order a P2P to Pearse.
