I didn't know anything about that reported and his condition, I didn't know Trump was making flustered gestures, I was led to believe he was mocking someone with cerebral palsy. People have no integrity. They will twist anything to suit their agenda.

For what its worth, im not sure this will be the apocalype some are predicting. The US president has surprisingly limited ability to act in isolation. I think he may well end up being a bit of a Ronald Reagan type of president. Not a completely good thing by any means but equally not a disaster.

It's like Brexit: people who feel abandoned by government and neoliberal economic policy... a) are attracted by someone who promises to create jobs, and blames their issues on external bogeymen... and b) get fed up at people who tar all Brexit/Trump supporters as racist sexist bastard idiots, and can't understand why people would want to vote they way they do. This makes these supporters understandably defensive and more entrenched in their support. Of course a lot of racist sexist bastard idiots also voted for Brexit and Trump, but there was also a sizeable proportion of former working-class people who've felt completely abandoned by modern politics, and those who assume they're racist sexist bastard idiots. Sadly, neither Brexit nor Trump will do anything for them at all, which is the real tragedy of all this. So I can understand the disadvantaged of America voting for Trump. What's interesting is the number of polls which asked people if he had the right temperament for the role, or if they agreed with everything he believed. Obviously a lot of people thought "this guy's a f*cking bullying ass, but he says he's going to get my job back, whereas Hillary ain't promising me nothing." It would've been really interesting to see a Sanders/Trump election. I won't assume Sanders would've won, as the word "socialism" is still a dirty one, but at least he would have tried to truly represent the disaffected and offer them something. It's a pity the Democratic Party made sure that didn't happen. I've no idea though, why any Irish person would support such a vile goon as Trump.

But what about all the racists that were emboldened by Trump? That's what terrifies a lot of people. And that Trump was almost at pains not to distance himself from them, it's hardly surprising that many associated Trump with only racist voters. (And let's be honest, it doesn't help that Trump kept using Hitler quotes.)
