The more people buying PPV the more he gets paid, and most PPV buys come from North America so we're watching events on their clock. At the moment, it's not in his interest to want to fight in Ireland from a financial point of view.

Our devs came back with a snarky "we've reviewed the logs and the time when the least users are on the site is 3.30am". The point is that reviewing things as they are now and saying "this is the best way for the future" can be more complicated than that... I'm a big MMA fan but I still don't buy ppv's because I simply cant afford to stay up till 6am on occasions and be zonked the next day and probably a while after. I'm 46, all nighters get tough for us old folk :P If it was on at 8pm for me, would I buy it? Hell yes! Europe has twice the population of America. The Middle East isn't all that far away time-zone wise (2-3 hrs).... Its not a surprise that the US has the highest number of PPVs when its set up to be as convenient as possible for them.

Paddy got called out for his comments that he'd have no problem with Daniel Kinahan being in his corner as he has no crimincal convictions on record. To be honest, it's a really disingenuous article. For a start, Conor is on public record donating to the homeless community in Dublin. 50 grand last year. He's also over the years literally invited homeless guys into his home to give them old trackies and t-shirts he's throwing out. On top of that, it's fundamentally a good thing that he's spotlighting fighter pay and the results are self-evident. Rory MacDonald, Joe Duffy, Al Iaquinta, Luke Rockhold, Aljo Sterling...... there's a long list of fighters now evaluating pay and taking stands like never before. A lot of that is to do with how open Conor has been on the pay issue. We all know what Conor attempts to do. Rattle opponents and make them fight with too much emotion. As for Paddy Barnes, no Daniel Kinahan has no criminal convictions but neither did Stalin....... pointing to a criminal conviction as proof of "innocence" is rather silly. There's massive amounts of evidence that the lifestyle, properties and life he leads points to huge wealth from criminality. Where i would criticize Conor is the fact that at the UFC 205 Presser he said he's on track to make $40 million this year. And just hours later, a post from Luka Jelcic surfaced on Facebook where he's looking for help with a few sponsors on his shorts. To me, that just felt wrong. Luka has been a close training partner and big help to Conor and he's there scratching around looking for a couple hundred euro short money, hours after Conor boasting about $40 million. I understand Conor can't personally sponsor every SBG fighter making their way up but it's a sad state of affairs when someone who helped him massively for the Mendes camp is struggling for a few bob. I would have thought he could put "TheMacLife.com" on Luka's shorts and throw him the few quid.

wonderfullife wrote: » Oh i agree. Sure even Dana White was saying his own head is melted with relatives hitting him up for money since the sale of the UFC. I'm sure Conor gets it from all angles. But there is a big difference between random people or third cousins asking for a loan and in sponsoring your training partner a few quid to advertise your new business. It's a tough one. For both SBG and Conor. If they set a precedent in publicly helping one guy, then they've got 20 or 30 other guys feeling hard done by. I don't know what the answer is, all i know is it feels wrong and looks terrible that Luka came out with that post hours after Conor saying he's making 40 mil this year.
wonderfullife wrote: » As i said, the only criticism i'd fire Conors way is that the boasting about wealth on some levels hasn't translated to the loyalty he talks about a lot for SBG. Best examples of this are the tracksuit situation for IMMAF and Luka's situation this week. I've no idea how much it'd cost to get 30 or 40 tracksuits made for Team Ireland but it wouldn't be a fortune, maybe €2,500. That's the type of thing where Conor could make a small difference on the grassroots side of things, especially with so many from SBG making up Team Ireland. It's not a good look for a team to rock up looking like rag-bags when every other team has team-tracksuits. The Luka Jelcic thing felt sad too. The fella is obviously struggling for a few bob looking for 200 euro sponsorship on his shorts. I hate thinking that the likes of Artem, Luka, Charlie Ward, Peter Queally could be struggling for a few quid and Conor wouldn't help them out because when all is said and done they've played a huge role in his training camps. He may very well help them out financially behind the scenes but when it comes out in public that Luka needs sponsors for his shorts it just feels wrong. It also is handing ammunition to Eddie if he wants it. Next time Conor talks about his millions it's an easy response for Eddie to say "well at least my training partner isn't begging for $200 sponsorship, i actually support my own".
