I am assuming this will be the schedule: October 8th & 9th: Group games October 15th & 16th: Quarter Finals October 22nd & 23rd: Semi Finals October 30th: Final Is that the way it is looking?

I had felt fairly positive for the match on Sunday, felt that we could ambush them, but I think any element of surprise that we had is gone now. Unless Rochford has another tactical plan up his sleeve, I don't see how Dublin won't be better prepared the next day. Mayo did a decent job of keeping their forwards quiet, but Dublin were undeniably flat and collectively seemed out of sorts. It was a strange sort of spectacle in that I do think the way Mayo played had some role in nullifying them, but they also just didn't seem right at all and it was a pretty amazing malfunction from their forward line (though Brogan and Flynn have arguably been out of sorts by their own standards all year, so nothing particularly surprising there). Whether there was complacency, they felt a bit of pressure, if it's just been a long slog for them since last year, or something else entirely, I don't know, but I would be surprised if we see them that bereft of ideas in the replay. I think there'll be several Dublin players who will feel like they have a point to prove the next day. If Gavin is ruthless, he might even drop a big name or two and shake up his forward line. That being said, we gifted Dublin two own goals and they were a couple of points up with a few minutes left on the clock and they didn't close it out. If we'd been the ones throwing away that lead, we'd be called "bottlers". We stayed in it after some poor mistakes that could have been very demoralising. There are a lot of teams who would have just capitulated after such mistakes. Look, we're still in it. I think we'd do well to put the day behind us and just move on to the next match. Saturday week should be treated like the first match all over again. If there's anything we have going for us, it's that this team has mental fortitude. I think they'll pick themselves up well for the next day and will be in the right place mentally. Whether things go their way on the day is another matter. A few individuals are going to need to up their game on what we saw the last day. The O'Sheas and Diarmuid O'Connor are going to need to find more, imo, and I think Cillian can do more too. I think they'll be up for it. Whether they have the tools to combat the backlash that's probably coming, I don't know, tbh.

Now I know that Dublin have a somewhat swashbuckling attitude, but with literally 30 odd seconds left on the clock in an AI final, all he had to do was put that sideline ball back into Dublin possession and run down the clock. That said, I'm glad we didn't win it that way.

They've played three big games this year and we've watched Kilkenny p!ssing about in all three games with himself and Flynn turning their backs on the ball and running to their own 45 every time the ball is turned over. Nothing swashbuckling about it.
Blud wrote: » Yep. Not to mention that the county squad will be in no fit condition to play a week after the replay, and half the county will have been on the beer anyway. Club players really should boycott - it's gone that far. They have to make a stand at some point, it's now or never. And I'm only saying 'they' because I'm already out, and feeling very comfortable with the decision.

McMahon was cleared of that headbutt when alternate footage emerged showing there was no actual contact of heads (http://www.sportsjoe.ie/gaa/philly-mcmahon-in-the-clear-as-new-footage-of-clash-with-aiden-oshea-emerges/37912). The clip in that link is too fast to see clearly but there was a much better link of the same footage doing the rounds last year which showed it in slow motion where it was very clear their heads did not actually touch. Made O'Shea's post match "yeah I was headbutted" comment look quite underhand and dishonest when it came out. I'd imagine it's still around if you're interested in what really happened.

Falling down like an absolute gobs%te. What happened there was McM trying to obstruct AOS to allow DC a passage through. I actually have no issue with that, its a physical game, but its the feigning injury by players a tough as nails that really angers me. Especially in that position of the field. Not saying Mayo dont do it, just pointing out that incident. You can slow youtube videos down to 1/4 of that speed. Its comical, not a hair on his arm touched McMahon!
