Regarding 3D, I never bought into it and, after seeing a 3D film on the big screen that was rendered a murky mess I have gone to 2D only screenings since. I was looking at the PS3 partnered 3D TV, as it was available for peanuts for a while, but it turns out to be a lousy display, using a shiny, reflective screen surface that makes it almost impossible to use in a room with reflections, so every room you can think of then, bar a pitch dark one!

Steve X2 wrote: » Ah yeah, I rarely stick up any of the actual “R@re!! L@@k”; stuff here. In fact I stopped posting stuff I was getting for a long time as I’m sure people get bored of the same person posting up every day(sometimes it feels like showing off and that’s not the way I am). Only started again in the last week or two. To be honest the Titler isn’t all that amazing, it’s a bulky yolk and the Twin famicom gets used a lot more. But I’ll be doing a review of the Titler with lots of detailed pics and vids(inc thermal pics) over on Retrovia in the near future. But I’m currently working on the same type of review for the 3DO M2 so that will be up before the Titler (probably next weekend for those interested in all things rare and 3DO).

Andrew76 wrote: » I was in the market for a new tv recently and did a little research on 4k/HDR/OLED/10-bit panels/nit levels etc etc, all very confusing these days. From what I remember reading, there's very little HDR at the minute but presumably it will increase in time. There's a couple of Ultra HD Blu-ray players available but not sure how many films have HDR enabled on them (standard blu-rays don't). I think Netflix have Marco Polo in HDR, not sure what else. Also, just because a TV says it's HDR compatible doesn't mean it will get the full HDR experience - the TV might not have a 10-bit panel for example and can't display the full range of colours. If it has an Ultra HD Premium sticker on it you should be good though. I said feck all that and went with a Full HD Samsung that reviewed well and was on sale in Argos. :pac: Will look again in a year or two and see how the OLED sets are progressing and whether HDR is more widespread. One thing is for sure, we had it nice and simple with CRTs.
Doge wrote: » Ours didnt come with an Ultra HD Premium sticker as HDR Compatibility only came afterwards through the firmware update. It does have a 10-but panel though, but what it is lacking is local dimming. So in terms of brightness HDR will be lacking, and wont be the full experience, but in terms of colour it will reap the benefits.
