    Hi all.

    Just wanted opinions

I currently take Berocca and cod liver oil capsules every morning and Spirulina twice a day

Does this cover most of my optimum daily vitamin intake?? Do any of these clash with other? Should I add anything to the list?

I have a relatively healthy diet as well btw

    Cheers!

Cod liver oil usually have vitamin D in it, if yours doesn't I'd be inclined to add some. And possibly a cal/mag supplement if you are female. Otherwise, looks good.

    Yeah, they're Seven Seas 'one a day' with Omega-3 & Vitamin D.

And I'm a bloke :) - any need for the calcium & magnesium then?

    Thanks btw

If you drink a lot of Coke, or are dieting, I'd consider it. It won't do any harm.

For a guy, zinc and magnezium mate.

Why barrocca? Sheer curiousity. Why not another one? or a better one?

You can get your cod liver and your primrose in lidl for a quarter the price and the exact same ammount per serving.

Zinc and magnesium? Fair enough dude, sound. What are the benefits? For men, or otherwise? And for that matter what are the benefits of cal/mag for women.

As for the Berocca, I dunno really, was under the impression it's pretty good, is there better out there? What would ya recommend. What are other people's daily routines.

I have a big interest in getting the right nutrients etc but I am pretty clueless about it at the end of the day:)

google zinc and magnezium for men. there is a tonne of info and you will know if you need it.

Berocca is just an expensive brand name. again research the net and decide on a good multi.

There's no real conclusive proof of any benefits to supplementation so I wouldn't get too worked up about it. The benefits of vitamins and minerals are usually subjective; the placebo effect can also last for up to 6 months as well.

Yes a deficiency in vitamins and minerals is bad for you but that doesn't mean to be healthy you need to take them in abundance! Too little food, i.e. starvation, is not good for you but you don't think think you need to over eat to be healthy; anything over and above what your body actually needs is a waste.

True, but with the standard Western diet high in processed foods, repeated studies show that people are deficient in various vitamins and minerals. Vitamin D, for instance, is one vitamin that virtually no-one seems to have enough of, never mind too much of. Irish soil is deficient in selenium, and horses are regularly supplemented.

And of course, there is a big difference between the level at which deficiency shows (although I went to a boarding school where a few girls got scurvy) and where you are healthy.

I'm not advocating popping pills instead of real food, but I reckon a good multi or sensible supplement is a form of insurance.
