Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Strangely, the Vuelta website has Nico leading the virtual classification, 11 seconds ahead of Chris Froome.

Is Nibali going around the Vuelta on a motorbike?

Mikel Nieve (#6) is in with the Dumoulin/Aru/Purito/Chavez/Valverde group.

Hey, could someone on twitter please contact Carlton Kirby and ask him to please, please, please stop crapping on about Attapuma.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,458 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Carlton really needs to shut up about Darwin Atapuma.

I'm considering setting up a Twitter account just to tell Carlton to shut up about him. It's really getting annoying now.

Meanwhile, Froome is only 3/4 minutes back now? If he can maintain that, it's theoretically recoverable..

    now 5 minutes.

Carlton was worse earlier "Chris had that fall earlier" every 30 seconds when froome was dropped

Carlton had a bet on Atapuma that's why he's ****ting one

  • Registered Users Posts: 837 ✭✭✭Subpopulus

I'd be amazed if Froome started tomorrow. He doesn't strike me as the sort of rider to carry on just for the hell of it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭mhiggy09

Anyone have a bloody idea where roche is? Looking through this thread looks like he cracked or dropped off with froome really annoyed if the later

He cracked around the same time as Froome did. He looked to be really struggling. Not sure if he is ahead or behind Froome.

Carlton's latest theory about Atapuma's disappearance will be that he has been abducted by aliens or something

    Aru attacks

    Aru attacking Landa? FFS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭Darkglasses

I'm watching on silent so I can't really follow exactly what's happening, but are those two Astana lads chasing Aru AND Landa now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭letape

    Aru attacking Landa? FFS.

That's fair enough - he has a chance to lead the GC. Landa might be able to help him up the road.

Sounds like the closing 10km could be a cracker. I'm stuck in traffic (not driving)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭letape

Domoulin still with Chavez - hard to believe.

Rodriquez has Moreno for company up front with Aru. Should be a great finish.

    Come on Landa and Aru!

If dumoulin doesn't panic and minimises his losses, he'll still be in with a shout with the TT to come

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭letape

Aru gone clear of Katusha boys

He is doing incredibly well - leading the group with Valverde and Chavez and just dropped Quintana.

Edit: Valverde dropped by him now

Wonder where D Martin would be?

Shows us just how good Contador was in the Giro to beat these 2 from Astana!

Dan would be in a world of pain down the hill somewhere.

As I don't have Eurosport I'm very gratefully watching live now on TG4. The commentary is certainly very different to C Kirby. My Irish is only ok but not much excitement from the TG4 crew, they were discussing if the riders had clinchers or tubs a minute ago.
Any last climb will hopefully have some fireworks.

Dan would be using his loyalty card in A&E

    Landa
    then
    Aru
    then Purito & Moreno
    then
    Nieve and Majka
    then
    Dumoulin and Chaves
    then
    Valverde

    Where is Quintana?

Dropping like a stone when last we saw him. Dumoulin/chaves/valverde group sailed right by him.

I like listening to them. It's like eavesdropping on a pair of auld lads down the pub having a chat about the race over a few pints.

But if you wan't to know what's actually happening in the race, or get an analysis of the tactics, then they're useless.

Moreno should probably have ridden his own race. He worked all day for Rodriquez and easily ride away from him at the end.

He started the day at 2.26 so will have a high overall placing.

Okay. Now let the fight begin.

    Aru v Dumoulin.

Aru to go bananas in the mountains in order to get the 2/3min he'll need to hold him off in the Time trial.

Roche behind Froome, unless he's missed by the cameras ?

I think he'll need more time than that over a 40k TT. Should be interesting

Yeah you're probably right. But I'm guessing that the ringer Aru is going to put him through in the mountains is going to take it's toll on the TT.
